I wonder why CX doesn't fly non-stop for YYZ-HKG route like AC does. They fly nonstop from N.Y to HKG but not YYZ. Why? I have flown YYZ to HKG before with a 1.5 hr technical stop in Anchorage....it's too long haul...19.5 hrs in total and you must stay in the cabin in ANC and no washroom break, no walkaround....just stay in your own seat. And I don't understand why they don't use 744 instead of A343 as the route is always overbooked....thanks for your comments.
Even 744 would have to take a payload penalty to make YYZ-HKG with the westbound more penalized than the eastbound leg.
Same applies to CI which also tech stop at ANC on its TPE-JFK flight. BR just goes viaSEA on its TPE-EWR flight. Whenever BR gets its 772LR, the TPE-NYC should go non-stop. Meanwhile, CI has nothing in place/order for a reasonable non-stop flight to NYC.
