"Blue City has requested with the National Business Aviation Association trade group that data related to the 767's whereabouts not be made public."

Are they allowed to do this? Isn't there a way to track it anyway?

It was pretty funny reading the WSJ article and seeing references to 'hammock beds swung from the ceiling' adjacent to illustrations of a couple of billionaire kids that looked like they were 11 and 13 years old. In hindsight I wonder whether it is even remotely possible to undertake a project like this without anyone knowing it's for Google? Sure, if design specs call for the colorful Google logo throughout, all bets are off. But it also seems to me that contractors along the way decided to adopt the '$10m toilet syndrome' once they knew it was a plane for Google. Again, not that there's much that could have been done. Once contractors sniff deep pockets, your $1m toilet automatically turns into a $10m one.

I see a Harvard B-School (or Law School!) case study in my crystal ball.

"Mr. Jennings, 67 years old, says the allegations are groundless. He says he was wrongly fired after trying to alert Mr. Schmidt that Blue City was going to be overcharged for some materials used in the interior of the plane. Mr. Jennings says allegations that he wasn't sufficiently involved in the project or accessible to the plane's owners are false, and has over 1,200 emails related to the project to disprove them."

This sounds oh so familiar. Having dealt with Les Jennings in the past I have a biased opinion of his workmanship. It sucks. Sloppy workmanship... Good for these guys that they pulled the plug on him.

More than likely that work was done at DAL. Anyway to check reg #'s on anything of that size that is not an airliner?

Gore Designs is here in San Antonio, and a recent (last couple of days)newspaper photo from Gore Designs seemed to have a large aircraft in the background. Perhaps it was in MIA for painting, then quietly flew to SAT?

OK .. it's gotta be c/n 23402. It's the only -238 that is registred in Delaware as per this article.
http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/to...051104GooglePlaneBoardingSoon.html

The current reg is N773WD - former VH-EAN. It's owned by 'Wilmington Trust Co trustee' in Delaware.

It was ferried MZJ-MIA on 4/29, MIA-FTW on 5/16 and FTW-MIA in 6/1, so it's probably still there.

Last photo in the base: MZJ Oct 2004.

No wonder no one would tell me what Mav Aircraft Services was working on at FTW. Probably had the mother of all non-disclosure agreements over this contract. Now I wish I had peeked inside the hangar while rolling by.

Please read my quoted topic. I had provided the reg information when it had been registered. It will be registered as N773WD. Their G-V is also reg'd N42GX and is under the name of BGHN Holdings LLC. It has maintenance here in Concord, CA at Apex Jets though it's flight tracking is blocked. If you can afford the $7500 an hour and can fit in the sch. of this busy jet, you can charter the aircraft if you wish. This aircraft is registered at a PO box very close to Google HQ.

The reason it is that way is so that WSJ doesn't have to pay for their photographs or pay to have someone go and take their photographs.

They do this all the time for their articles.

Thanks,

Is this plane powered by PW? If so, what version? I myself would buy a 748 or a 739ER with a field package for improved take off performance.

Blue City is just a dummy corp to get around tax laws and so that no one at google can be held liable should something happen. It's in the best interest that google's funds not be involved cause a major lawsuit could cost them a lot.

They are trustworthy guys. If the travel is indeed for business than it will be written off as a business expense. I know a lot of people get their jock straps in a knot over how these guys operate but it's no different than any other company. Albeit a little less professional (though the industry they are in allows for such), but still following the same guidelines.

Never said they weren't. And there are thousands of ways to make the corporation pay. I would expect them...just like any other Billionaire corporate types..to use every one and then come up with several more the accountants and the IRS/SEC can argue about.

Keep in mind that the $11 billion dollars they have made (each) is all off of stock they have acquired due to their work in developing a company that gained MASSIVE interest when they went public. Taking a $1 pay-per year is crazy. You make it sound like they are just a bunch of rich snobs. Mind you they show up to work in their eco-friendly cars every day wearing in their Macy's suits for 'important' things other than that in khakis and a nice shirt. They also give $5,000 to every employee who buys a eco-friendly car.

If they want to expense a million or two over a year or so of air travel, I would say shareholders are getting off easy. That or they could do a Steven Jobs and take no pay for a year and a half and get a $55,000,000.00 jet as a bonus. With that much money floating around, there would be no reason to cheat anyone out of anything. It's pocket change if they really wanted to pay for it themselves.

No, I am saying...just like every other corporate billionaire...they will find ways to make the company pay as much as possible. It is how the billionaire keeps his billions.

Again, I said nothing about cheating. I have an accountant whose philosophy is that it is my DUTY to take every penny of every deduction I have coming. If there is a doubt: TAKE the deduction.

The same goes for my expense account: I follow the rules precisely, and if there is any doubt, whatsoever, I give myself the benefit. And I don't have that many billions
