Excellent program, thanx for the link NAV20.
I suggest all those A.netters who view Richard ("The Great Satan") Aboulafia as their sworn enemy, whose public utterances are not worthy of their attention, should invest the roughly 23 minutes of their time necessary to listen to this program in its entirety. They may be shocked by what they hear, particularly what he has to say about "launch aid" and the necessity of competition in the industry. IMO, Mr. Aboulafia comes-off as the most balanced of the "industry personalities" interviewed by Mr. Day of the BBC.
Admittedly, the naysayers will have to get past his comment early on in the program that: "arguably, the A380 is the worst example of group thinking in the aeronautical industry in decades." However, in the end, despite having a strong point of view which may in some aspects be in conflict with their own, some A.netters may discover, after listening to his comments in this program, that Mr. Aboulafia is indeed a lot more sensible and insightful than they thought beforehand. Certainly, they may no longer question why the media turns to Mr. Aboulafia for commentary on, and analysis of industry news.
