Help! Need A US Airways Expert!

Wed Jul 12, 2006 10:42 am

Hi All!
I wonder if anyone familiar with USAir can help me out.
See the attached photo.

The top grid is the confirmation for my trip to Disney in Nov. This is the itinerary I recived via email from USAir, after I paid for my tickets.

The lower grid is what I found when I checked my itinerary tonight on USAir's website.

With all the schedule changes that I have been hearing about, I thought I would check to see if anything has changed.

To my surprise, there doesn't seem to be much on the lower grid, that matches the upper one, with the exception of the flight numbers that I see. But what is all the other info and flight numbers? Not even the times are correct.

Can anyone decipher this?

Thanks in advance!

Russ

Not sure what to make of it, but I've read in the forums over the past few days that US-East stuff has been getting screwed up since the new website debuted. I'd call reservations about it.

Quite true, although I still hear tons of people refer to it as USAir. It hasn't been quite 15, I think about 9 or 10 now.

Yes, I agree with the first response. It's just the website being retarded. Nothing to worry about, but calling reservations should give you some peace of mind.

Less than 10 years, but who's counting?  Silly

Here's a poor guy asking a legit question and some people have to analyze and/or correct what he said....

It's sad.

My trip to STT was booked early in January of this year for travel in May via the US Airways website. A great non-stop flight from PHL to STT on a Thursday, ETD 0935, ETA 1315. In late March they informed me via e-mail of an "itinerary change", with a new departure time of 0815 to CLT, resulting in a 2.5 hour layover for a connecting flight to STT, ETA now 1510. Same with the return. I learned the hard way...never book too early with a carrier going through a merger and changes in fleet deployment! All flights were on time (in and out of Philadelphia, that in itself is a wonder!), but upon arrival in PHL at 2315 hours, the flight attendant announced the wrong baggage claim area, much to the chagrin of 190+ passengers on that tired B-757. I do hope that "USeless Airways" gets their act together soon.

Really good question... heh

As far as those iteneraries are concerned, I don't know what the hell all of that is myself. As someone else has hinted to on here, it's probably due to the new website being launched err something of the type. I dunno; I feel your pain, too, 777DadandJr...

Not familiar with this form of itinerary myself but if I had to take a stab I would say that the four flights at the top are the ones you are actually booked on, and the rest include other options. I say this especially given that the top four flights have seat assignments added.

Just wondering, on an itinerary or reservation, you usually see a six letter/number called a Confirmation Number, or Record Locator. If you can find that, you can punch that in to USAirways.com, and that should give you the accurate information about your trip. If you want to drop me a private message on Thursday, I have a sabre account and can even look this up for you.

And to the other people, this guy had a legitimate question and you all flame the poor guy. Grow up.

Yes, the four flights at the top ARE the confirmed flights I recieved when I paid for my tickets.

Why would they give me options if I have confirmed reservations?

Yes, I have that number. That is the number I used to get the second list from US Airways last night. I didn't include that number in the photo, obviously for security reasons.

Call US Airways customer service and have them take a look at your file....thats the only way to handle this and make sure that your flights are in order, the schedule changes have affected your booking and now is the time to make sure that everything is in order and that US has rebooked you on flights that are acceptable to you. Computers sometimes do some strange things, so be sure that connection times are OK with you (and are legal) and that everything else is OK.....US will be flexible with you to get you on to the flights that make the most sense. And, if you are not comfortable with the person who answers your calll, ask for a supervisor....once your itinerary is reworked, you are going to be stuck with it.

This will be fine, dont worry, one call will solve your concerns.

Folks let's drop the argument about the name. The airline is called US Airways. The original poster used a shorthand. He knows what the name is. I've changed the title to US Airways. Its a non-issue...

But there's still at least one Beech 1900 flying in the old US Air red/white/blue colors. I was surprised when I saw it at IAD on Saturday!

call reservations department, if the airline has had an schedule change you have to be protected in another flight as closest to the original times you had, if you need some light about what happened to your reservation before calling, just send me a pm , i can check your reservation, and advice u accordingly

Not sure without actually seeing your reservation, but my guess is that your PNR (passenger name record) has not been "cleaned-up" yet from previous sked changes. The bottom grid may show exactly how the face of the PNR looks internally in the res system (with old data), while your itinerary will only show what is currently confirmed. Normally an airline will have res agents go in and clean all that old stuff up once it gets closer to your travel date. Also, since you are booked way out in November, you can expect as many as one schedule change a month (although probably minor) between now and when you actually travel. How long ago did you book this?

My best guess as an outsider is that you've been affected by schedule and flight number changes and all the weirdness just reflects iterations of the changes. It looks like your new itinerary is:

US 4542 MDT-PHL (0550-0637 11/05/06)
US 0987 PHL-MCO (0755-1026 11/05/06)

US 1940 MCO-CLT (1840-2012 11/11/06)
US 0722 CLT-MDT (2130-2256 11/11/06)

The reason for the change on the way down is pretty obvious; the first MDT-PIT flight now arrives after the morning PIT-MCO non-stop departs.
