737-900ER Is Off To A Great Start...

Wed Jul 12, 2006 11:15 am

The 737-900ER just booked an order for 30 frames on June 30th, which is listed as an unidentified customer.

What amazes me is how many have been sold since on offer... 63 were sold and 3 customers before first flight, which already beats -900.

Any idea who could have booked the 30?
Airbus or Boeing - it's all good to me!

My guess is a leasing company or CO. In addition to that, a China airline might be it too.

Not CO...while there is the possibility that withine they're order of 24 additional NG's, there will be some 900ER's there won't be anywhere near 30.

Considering that 6,473 orders have been placed, it would seem they have a pretty good shot at it.

What are the projected operating costs of the -900ER?

If it's not too much higher than the -800, the extra capacity should be a no-brainer.

Problem with the -900 non-ER was the limited range and the fact that the max capacity was not any higher than the -800. (189)

This obviously depends on configuration. Most of CO's 738's only hold 155(some even less) and all the 12 739's hold 167.

Could this be Lion Air converting their 30 options?

Most likely a single class cabin operator. Those are the ones that really benefit from the aditional escape doors and subsequent additional seating capasity (>180)
