There is no american airline in that list. Could this list have any credentials or is like grammy award?

Where is Qatar Airways?

I find it hard to believe that Qantas would be better than Qatar?

Well, I don't believe that ANY American airline could be included in the TOP 10 list of world's best airlines. I'm not saying they're all that shabby, but the Top 10 is what the name says - the Top 10.

Travel & Leisure Magazine Awards have been around for quite a while so they MUST have some credentials. I know that not everyone would compile the same list based on their own experience, but after thousands of travelers included in the survey... And not to forget that Skytrax's top 10 airlines list is quite similar so there must be some truth to the one quoted above.

Name a US Airline that would make the top 10?

I flew UA in Business Class two weeks ago NRT-TPE on my current CRWSTAR and decided to try to avoid them as much as possible. NH, TG and SQ service levels are on a different planet.

I also miss Qatar on the list. Surprised to see QF on 8th place. Otherwise no surprises to me  Smile

Regarding Qatar Airways - due to the American-ness of the survey and the fact that QR don't fly there yet, well put two and two together.

And I would have assumed the US airlines would be on the Domestic Airline list in my other thread.

There should be no US airlines in any world airline top 10 lists. Period.

What utter rubbish. Their new J & F products are excellent. Flown them much lately ?.

I have to say these awards really are ten-a-penny these days. There seems to be one every week.

As long as you're on the A345.

Come on, TG has been on this list for years and absolutely did not deserve it. Their product is unbelievably inconsistent. These awards have no credibility. The rankings are totally unverifiable.

Why not?
Out of ten biggest airlines are 7 american. Those airlines listed on top ten list carry are only in the 15-30 range.

I suppose that's because the list shows the BEST not the LARGEST airlines  Wink

Also, I give TG good ratings in J - one of the better I've flown actually.

I'm sorry but I have to agree these "awards" seem to carry little weight. I mean really..... Silk Air!! A tiny regional airline outperforming the likes of British Airways, Qatar, etc etc! I've seen everything now!

Or the A346, or the refitted 744's with new J & F, both of which I have sampled in the last few months. How many times have you flown them in the new cabins or on the A345/346 ?.

Awards are for the so called best NOT biggest. There is a world of difference, and as I said, no US carrier should get in any top 10 awards for 'best' airline.

Apart from Silkair, that list sounds fair enough to me!

Is the awards are given by Travel & Leisure Magazine, would this suggest leisure travel is the main criteria, and that the conditions in Y are the main factor not the pampered people at the front of the plane?

The inclusion and achievement of SilkAir (Singapore) Pte Limited hypothetically reflects the fact that Singapore Airlines Limited's Asian Affairs Holidays (marketed in the US), make use of the SilkAir route network.

Though that's an uneducated guess.

When SilkAir came 10th last year....

-------

"We are privileged to make our debut on this prestigious list," said Mr Mike Barclay, SilkAir's Chief Executive. "More than an accolade, this is an affirmation of our growing international appeal. This recognition from passengers strengthens the collective efforts of our associates to grow SilkAir's standing as a leading regional airline with a truly international reach and a top class standard of service."

As the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir extends the group's global footprint by serving daily regional connections from Singapore into new exotic destinations in Asia. International passengers feeding into its regional routes currently make for almost half of SilkAir's passenger base.

The carrier has long been the champion of diverse, secondary points in Asia, enjoying first mover advantage on selected routes.
