Boeing Orders For 7/11/06

Fri Jul 14, 2006 1:08 am

Well here are the latest numbers out of Chicago/Seattle:

Looks like the 737 order machine is chugging along. They added another 16 737s to the order book.

Narrowbodies are boring. They should sell some widebodies so we have more to talk about. Why do they never think of our feelings?

Narrowbody orders are a good sign of things to come for the widebodies. Bet we see lots of that next week at Farnborough.

I also don't like narrowbodies. In 80's there were dozens producers of narowbodies and only a few of widebodies.

Widebodies have lower fuel consumption per passenger per 100km. Look at A330
2.5 liters. Talking about high fuel prices....

Interesting commentary. In the middle of January 2006, Euro narrowbodies were all the rage according to our friends from the eastern side of Lake Atlantica. The large number of narrowbodies that were "sold" over there were touted as evidence of a dominant product. Now we hear that this is unimportant when the numbers from the western side of the lake are high. Fascinating indeed.

Also interesting is that Boeing now has sold more than 500 planes this year already! Without any Farnborough orders (although many of the orders to be announced next week might already be included in the 152 Unidentified orders)

I further miss Xiamen Airlines, which ordered according to Boeing's own web site under User defined reports 6 B737-800 in JUne. Those are however not included on their overview at http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm

Xiamen Airlines China East Asia 737-800 CF 07-Jun-2006 6

Why would that be?

They appear under the "changes" line on the O&D spreadsheet. Prior to Xiamen converting their 3 x 787 to 6 x 737 there were 10 737 cancellations listed as "changes". After the conversion 6 were taken from that line which were the 6 new frames for Xiamen.

Boeing's policy is that if an order is placed and cancelled (or converted to another model) in the same year they update it under "changes".
