That "box" under the nose is a building inside the blue fence.

I have done gear swings at the gate and on a remote pad. Just a couple of weeks ago I saw a complete nose gear change on a DC10 done outside. You just have to mindful of your surroundings.

Never seen a DC9 tail tip before...front end would have to be quite lighter than normal. Can't see the nose gear in the picture...may just be blocked by the building in the foreground...or perhaps retracted despite gear doors down...or perhaps removed which would cause a bit of a weight change.

Light on fuel it is possible to tip a DC9 fairly easily. They tend to be tail heavy when empty. A previous employer of mine has had a few very close calls because of high winds associated with T-storms. Ever see a dancing MD80 lift its nose wheels three feet off the ground at the gate? Quite an amazing sight! In the DC9 maintenance manual there is nothing against jacking outside, though it should be protected from the wind preferably in a hanger when possible. You must be on level, solid ground. The wind cannot exceed 30 knots and the nose should be pointed into the wind.
Aircraft jacking is a routine yet dangerous procedure that needs to be carefully monitored, especially outside.

Don't beleive that one is flying for 1Time anymore. DC-9-14 by the way.

Aeronexus hangars , right next to SAFAIR and Nationwide Ops and right next to intersection F on 03L/21R. Fedair also run their ops out of there and alongside is Anglo-American's hangars. Great place to rake photos from , the aircraft rotate right in front of you.

Heres another pic of the location.
