India will soon have the first super jumbo Airbus A 380, with the government giving Vijay Mallya's Kingfisher Airlines to import five of the world's largest passenger aircraft into India.

In addition, Kingfisher has also been given permission to import 15 wide-bodied aircraft and a business jet.

15 wide-bodied aircraft, being 5 A330's, 5 A350's and 5 A345's. What business jet did or do they intent to order? Is the unidentified A330 perhaps destined for Kingfisher?

With the amount of Indian multi miljonairs and biljonairs around, the idea of having a private A330 available for charter, wouldn't be to far fetched. Not?

IIRC - they ordered a ABJ(?) the business jet version of the A318 - you see it in one of the programs about the A380 - Leahey goes to see them to try and sell them the largest Airbus plane and ends up selling them the smallest Big grin

Thanks for the answer.
So the A330 customer is still not identified.

BTW, Leahy did sell them 5 A380's.  Wink

Hi Manni,

Well if you get the chance to look at the Discovery Channel - Giant of the Skies. Building the A380 documentary you will see that Mr Leahy was able to sign up for an A319CJ.

In that documentary he proposed the A380 to Kingfisher although at that present time he only managed to sign up a single A319CJ. Little did he know, that soon he would manage to gather up another considerable batch of A320's, and 5 x A330/A350/A345.

Vijay Mallya, chairman of Kingfisher and United Breweries Group ordered an Airbus ACJ (Airbus Corporate Jet). Its an A319 platform in executive configuration.

That's the one I was thinking of!

Anyone think that they're going to firm those A345s any time soon?
