There was something in the news recently about EI not wanting to pay the IT costs of upgrading their systems to talk to the three newest oneworld carriers, and that their business model of point-to-point LCC flights didn't fit in with moving premium passengers around the globe.

Good, may be an overstatement. I flew Premier class last Monday and it was fair at best, certainly not worth $3000 return JFK-DUB.
