AA Flight On Flightaware

Sat Jul 15, 2006 11:11 pm

Considering that AA has a maintenance base at AFW, would the following be a check ride for new/recurrent training, a test flight, or merely a LONG ferry flight. AFW is less than 15 minutes from DFW by car.
A lack of planning on your behalf does not create an emergency on my behalf.

Maybe it was like a mechanic taking a car for a long test drive ? Or high traffic? I've also seen planes do wierd routings on flightaware....

If you look at the Track log it shows the a/c was taken up to 31k feet for about 14 mins, then came back down to 16k feet for another 20 plus minutes. It was most likely a mx check flight to test equipment.

The aircraft had been in AFW for quite some time, presumably a major maintenance visit. This flight was to "test" it and to position it to DFW for revenue service.
