AA Flights Between IAH And ORD IN 1987

Sun Jul 16, 2006 1:10 am

I'm trying to figure out what kind of aircraft it was we flew on a summer trip to Louisville, KY back in 1987. I was 9 years old and it was an early morning departure. They even served breakfast in coach on the IAH-ORD leg. I guess those days are over for AA. I remember the seats were the traditional AA blue pattern and the safety cards had actual pictures on them. I dont remember us getting a meal on the ORD-SDF leg.

You left IAH early morning, summer 1987, flew nonstop on AA to ORD, stayed on the same plane, and flew to SDF?

Nah, we changed planes in ORD. We had about a two hour layover I think.

The August OAG shows all AA IAH-ORD and ORD-SDF flights as 72S. I didn't check the April AA timetable-- want me to?

My guess is that the flight was a 727-200, although the 727-100 and MD-80 were possibilities.

A friend of mine was a 727 F/O in the early 90s, and he flew ORD-IAH frequently.

4/87 timetable says all "727" IAH-ORD and ORD-SDF. It doesn't distinguish between the two sizes of 727.
