OK, first of all speaking of MEA
without mentioning this website:
is pointless. It is not just a beautiful and sad story of MEA
(unfortunately, it can be a story of Lebanon, too), but one of the best airline sites I've seen and it was also made by a great guy and my dear friend. To you, Wassim
I only saw MEA
plane once. It was back in July 1990 in Athens. Beautiful 707 in classic MEA
livery was landing above my head. For those who were in Glyfada, you know what a great feeling it is.
I hooked to the Internet a bit late in 2000, but somehow always wanted to know more and more about MEA
. I contacted them without reply until I contacted MEA
office in Frankfurt. One nice day a package with a ruler, postcards, timetable, in-flight magazine and few in-house magazines arrived. I was amazed
. Unfortunately, the day was rather sad. It was 9/11 2001.
I really liked that in-flight magazine, but there was something that really surprised me and I couldn't explain it. Almost all ads are either for expensive wedding dresses or diamonds. I don't care why, but it looked nice.
I hope this madness will stop soon and MEA
would spread its wings again.
It is going to be tough. My experiences tell me that war days are ugly but it is much harder when peace comes and you have to deal with reality, but I have no doubt that MEA
will prove as a survivor once again.
