Regardless of what people think of the events in Lebanon,I hope the best for MEA and it's employees,it seemed like it was doing a nice job of coming back from the 80's.Besides,any airline that flew 707's and 720's as long as they did can't be half bad!

OK, first of all speaking of MEA without mentioning this website:
http://wassch71.tripod.com/cedarjetpages.html is pointless. It is not just a beautiful and sad story of MEA (unfortunately, it can be a story of Lebanon, too), but one of the best airline sites I've seen and it was also made by a great guy and my dear friend. To you, Wassim  bigthumbsup

I only saw MEA plane once. It was back in July 1990 in Athens. Beautiful 707 in classic MEA livery was landing above my head. For those who were in Glyfada, you know what a great feeling it is.

I hooked to the Internet a bit late in 2000, but somehow always wanted to know more and more about MEA. I contacted them without reply until I contacted MEA office in Frankfurt. One nice day a package with a ruler, postcards, timetable, in-flight magazine and few in-house magazines arrived. I was amazed  cloudnine  . Unfortunately, the day was rather sad. It was 9/11 2001.

I really liked that in-flight magazine, but there was something that really surprised me and I couldn't explain it. Almost all ads are either for expensive wedding dresses or diamonds. I don't care why, but it looked nice.

I hope this madness will stop soon and MEA would spread its wings again.

It is going to be tough. My experiences tell me that war days are ugly but it is much harder when peace comes and you have to deal with reality, but I have no doubt that MEA will prove as a survivor once again.

Wouldn't mind knowing where I can get my hands on the MEA model as well. No doubts it's a Herpa Wings?

Check www.justplanefun.com I got one of those 707's by Herpa. You pay a little more, but it's worth it. I just checked the website, and they have them in stock.

Have you tried www.herpa.de ?
I also found some on eBay. There was a nice box with 747 and 707 in classic MEA livery.

I went through the MEA tribute website linked in a earlier post. It is a well done website, with a very balanced view of the politics within and surrounding Lebanon, even to last week.
If MEA could survive the turmoil it has had over it's life, it surely can survive the current situation.

Glad that none of their jets got damaged. They will be fine. I just hope this conflict ends soon! Beirut is taking some awful damage, especially the city itself! Someone needs to be a real hero here, and wave the white flag!!!! This arm wrestling is not good for either Lebanon or Israel.

I hope they get the airport repaired fast, and let life get back to normal.

Just my thoughts of course. I would love to see peace!

As a current newly employed cadet pilot for Middle East Airlines, I was very upset to see the country and airline come to a complete halt. However, I was very pleased to see our aircraft being evacuated and re-positioned in Damascus for resumed operations.

I was supposed to start the type rating fairly soon, but it looks like myself and the others who are fortunate enough to join this amazing company will have to wait just a bit longer.

Hi!

I too would like to express my sincere solidarity to the great people of Lebanon, to their airline MEA! I still remember when most of MEA fleet was destroyed many years ago, what a sad sight! I also remember well during a good portion of years seeing their awesome 720B's around Europe, and I still recall one day in September 1981 when I was spotting at GVA airport to see a MEA 720B passing by and the co-pilot wave to me!
Besides all this I have lebanese friends that live in Beirouth and thank God they've sent a message saying they are ok!
I hope this nightmare passes really fast!

I know its slightly off topic BUT anyone snap shot the 2 MEA Airbus A330-200's which operated relief flights into Sydney - Kingsford Smith Airport on the 23rd Sunday morning? Was neat to see two birds side by side at the Freight Terminal....
