UA B744 At POB Today?

Fri Jul 21, 2006 5:50 pm

Just saw on that a UA 744 took off from ORD at 3:34am CDT, with POB as destination. I presume it's a military charter.. Anyone know where it's heading after that? Does this happen a lot? And what do folks in Chicago think of 747s taking off at half past 3 at night?

yes, military charter. destination wouldn't be listed most likely. when it took off from ORD at 3am it was almost ZFW and used less runway than a cessna 150 and climbed like the saturn V. residents wouldn't have noticed much. we used to get UAL 747 charters at EDDF (rhein main air base) all the time.

Its not that we mind that 747's take off at all hours of the night (mostly cargo.) Its that we're in bed and don't get to see them!

Seriously, though, there are louder aircraft at ORD - DC8F's, and at least one 727F a day. Not to mention AA's Mad Dog's...

I wish MLB got 757's. Would be nice, but all we get is MD-88, 737's, and the CRJ.
