Continental 757-200 To SJU Question

Sat Jul 22, 2006 3:02 am

I might be flying Continental to SJU in August and have two questions regarding the 757-200 on the route:

1.) Do the 757-200s that Continental flies to SJU have the international business?
2.) If you fly business class from EWR-SJU can you use the lounge at EWR?

Thanks!

Quoting AlitaliaMD11 (Thread starter):
1.) Do the 757-200s that Continental flies to SJU have the international business?

Usually, but not always.....check the seat map for the flight (you can get it though continental.com), but being that most 752s have biz first seating, there is a good chance that the 752 will have the 16 biz first seats upfront (and maybe even AVOD video). 757-300s do show up on the SJU route (especially on the weekends) from time to time and those aiplanes have domestic first, now 24 seats upfront on all airplanes.

2.) If you fly business class from EWR-SJU can you use the lounge at EWR?

Even if you paid the F class fare, EWR-SJU is considered a domestic flight thus no lounge access; there are one day passes available (dont know what they cost but its probably not worth the money) and if you have an AMEX Platinum card, you can use the lounge (there are other programs like that as well).

Thanks guys for the help. I was checking and I am looking at CO472 which is a 757-200 with InternationalBusiness (C) and has 16 seats looking at the seat chart. I am guessing that's an international bird then?

Yep, you will be comfortable with 55 inches of pitch and a very comfortable seat,,,,,,as I mentioned, many of the 752s have the new AVOD system on board which makes the flight even more enjoyable. Have a great trip.

Agreed--I was fortunate enough to be upgraded on an EWR-FLL flight this past winter on one of the first 752s equipped with AVOD. Great seat, great entertainment--too bad it was such a short flight!

IIRC all but two of the 757s have the BF configuration.

The unbelievably-crowded EWR President's Club is the only airline lounge I' ve ever used that was WORSE than general public seating near the gate. You won't be missing a thing.

I actually agree with you......the Club by C3 is nice but very crowded during the late afternoon, early evening international push. I prefer the lower-tech, less pretty Presidents Club by C74, its much calmer and you can actually get a drink from the bar without having to push and yell.

but dont be surprised if you show up and it has 24 seats...........there are still a couple out there iwth the domestic version of first. and it will continue to show that until departure time, incase there is a equipment sub, we dont oversell our F class by 8 seats.

I flew HNL-LAX-HNL, with the first leg of the trip in BF/first, and because of that I was granted "elite access" to the Presidents club....so I was under the impression that you ARE allowed into the club simply by flying in BF/F...

anyone can explain this??  Confused  Confused  Confused  Confused

And a question about the AVOD in BF. Anyone tried it? how is it? and when might it make its appearance in economy?
