A370UWB Jets?

Sat Jul 22, 2006 11:20 am

Following on from the announcement and following order of the A350XWB, I was wondering about an A370UWB (Ultra Wide Body) single level aircraft.
Presummably this aircraft would be a quad (or perhaps a twin with engines running on steroids), and would require a fuselage width wide enough to accommodate 10 abreast in a comfortable 18.5" seat or 11 abreast with a 17.5" seat width.
What do you think, would this aircraft be a goer???
I'd imagine the capacity would be somewhere between the A340-600 and the A380 (of course would depend on the length).
What?

This aircraft is certainly an idea that the more I think about, the more credible it becomes. This aircraft would fit into both manufacturers current offerings between the 787 and 748 as a 777 replacement... presummably above the 787-10. And also in the Airbus offerings between the A350-1000 and A380.
Such an aircraft would have awesome CASM, and stella performance. The question would be if the aircraft would be a twin or quad.

What are your thoughts???

I imagine it depends on what demand is for the 777-300ER, 747-8I, and A380-800. If the demand for a ~400-seat plane is weak, then there is no real reason for Airbus to try and build one from scratch.
