Any Chance Of A 777 On Alitalia IAD-Milan

Sun Jul 23, 2006 11:24 am

I will be flying from Dulles to Milan on July 31. The usual aircraft is a 763ER with no PTVs. I was wondering if there is any chance of seeing a 777 as an equipment change. Has it ever happened before on this route?
Thanks for the input.

I'd say no. I've never seen an AZ equipment change (except for the thread about an AZ 772 at BOS), and I've been spotting AZ at ORD for years. Usually when it says it's a 763 it is, but hey, who knows? Hopefully you'll get lucky.

It won't be an MD-11. Last summer Alitalia brought the MD-11's back to fly to IAD and India but since then they have been converted to Alitalia Cargo.

I am still bummed about not seeing anymore AZ pax MD-11's. Do you think there is any chance AZ may bring a few back into pax service to the U.S.....maybe because shortage of aircrafts? Those are great birds.

No chance, they have all (5) been converted completely to freighters.

Sorry, sad but true. Your best hopes are for a 777 sub, but highly doubtful that IAD will see it given they're pretty tied up. From what I understand, the 777 that operated to BOS was pulled from another route where a 763 went out...

I second that thought. Had the opportunity to fly on AZ's MD-11's back in 2002. Service was fair at best, plane was great.

Thanks for all the input so far. Does anyone know what the in-flight movies are right now for my flight?
