Iberia LCC "Clickair"

Mon Jul 24, 2006 4:52 am

The low cost airline part owned by IB is to launch in October and be called
"Clickair". Routes to London will not be a priority.

This link that appeared a couple of weeks ago shows the cities they will serve. Also seemed to suggest the name would be 'Catair' so that sounds like it may have changed.

Not to mention that Go's CEO never has to work again...

Maybe Ryanair or easyJet will buy Clickair in a year or two.

We discussed a bit on the issue on this topic:
RE: The New Iberia's Low-cost Airline (by JJJ Jun 30 2006 in Civil Aviation)#ID2854334

Catair is the name of the company, while Clickair will be the operating brand name (as well as the website http://www.clickair.com )

From ABTN. Initial international routes will include Lisbon, Paris and Switzerland alongside domestic routes. Ownership will be:

20% - Iberia
20% - Nefinsa (owners of Air Nostrum)
20% - Iberostar (tour operator)
20% - ACS (construction company)
20% - Carulla family of Barcelona

The initial fleet will be 3 former Iberia A320's with 180 seats. They will get two in December and another in March. The airline wil have its own AOC but codeshare with Iberia (as expected)

Here you can see the logo. Can anyone suggest more liveries? I think colors are great and with that combination, we can hope Clickair to have a nice livery!

Hope this helps to revitalize aviation business in Spain.

Yes, CrapAir! Once again I repeat I do not understand IB development strategies. They are starting to like the IB of 20 years ago, with too many fingers in too many pies. I wish they would just concentrate on improving their service.  banghead

The CEO airline is from now Jose Romero de Avila Gonzalez-Albo, directive from ACS Services, Comunications and Energies.

He defines the "Clickair" name as modern and international.

The airline, as all we know, will have its main operational hub in BCN and will start operations from October 2006. First flights will be to eight main european cities as AMS (competing with KL, IB, VY and HV), GVA (competing with LX, IB and DS), ZRH (competing with LX, IB, JK and 2L), PRG (competing with OK, NE and QS), DUB (competing with EI, IB and JK) and LIS (competing with TP, NI and VY).

Domestic flights will be: AGP (competing with IB, JK and VY), VLC (competing with IB and Euromed), SVQ (competing with IB, JK, UX and VY) and BIO (competing with IB, JK and VY).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me, in my opinion, these cities are a GREAT MISTAKE!!!!

Why not will start flights to LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, LIN, MAN,...???????

Why this airlines left cities as SCQ, PMI, TFN, LPA, ACE,...???????

Wrong decissions before the airline start flying.

These are in fact Air Nostrum flights. I don't know how BCN is set up for inmigration and passport controls but i think these flights to Switzerland depart from a different terminal than the rest of Air Nostrum operations because of this. Maybe they think it's better to change 2x CRJ to these destinations by 1x 320 operated by Clickair.

PRG (competing with OK, NE and QS),

About time Iberia group decided to fly to PRG

Clickair can't offer flights to Europe from BIO, AGP..... if there's not a BCN-BIO, BCN-AGP..... Maybe they want to test these routes to launch european flights from these airports. If these routes don't work they can come up with a W routing.

Besides....LHR???? Are you crazy?? I'm 100% sure co-operation of BCN-LHR by IB-BA is doing great. If ain't broken...  Wink

What do you think about this? I think it's really cool. Can't wait to see this livery in a A320! We'll have to wait until October 2006!

Considering all the cash Iberia is sitting on I'm surprised they didn't just buy Vueling. I guess they still could.

VLC??

What a stupid move, there is no demand for air traffic VLC-BCN unless for connecting flights. The Euromed train is actually faster if you take into account all the associated bits of air travel.
