Jetstar Announce New International Routes

Tue Jul 25, 2006 9:37 pm

Looks like Jetstar International are about to release their new international routes out of Australia. After doing a bit of research; Sydney to Phuket and Ho Chi Minh City should be announced, November 15 being a Wednesday should see Phuket as the first A332 international destination.

JQ 27 SYD Sydney 15:20 HKT Phuket 20:50 332 9h30min
Monday
Wednesday
Friday
JQ 28 HKT Phuket 22:20 SYD Sydney 11:15+1 day(s) 332 8h55min
Monday
Wednesday
Friday

JQ7 SYD Sydney 15:00 SGN Ho Chi Minh City 19:45 Non-stop 332 8h45min
Tuesday
Thursday
Saturday

JQ 8 SGN Ho Chi Minh City 21:40 SYD Sydney 10:15+1 day(s) Non-stop 332 8h35min
Tuesday
Thursday
Saturday

That rotation should keep one aircraft busy.

JQ 35 MEL Melbourne 18:45 DPS Denpasar Bali 21:50 Non-stop 332 6h05min
Tuesday
Saturday

JQ 36 DPS Denpasar Bali 23:00 MEL Melbourne 07:20+1 day(s) Non-stop 332 5h20min
Tuesday
Saturday

JQ 37 SYD Sydney 18:00 DPS Denpasar Bali 21:20 Non-stop 332 6h20min
Friday
Sunday

JQ 38 DPS Denpasar Bali 22:35 SYD Sydney 07:20+1 day(s) Non-stop 332 5h45min
Friday
Sunday

Those flights should keep part of the second plane busy.

From reports elsewhere (YSSY) VH-EBC will be the first QF A332 to be painted up into Jetstar colours, followed by VH-EBD. Aircraft will end service with QF during the first week of October and enter service with JQ on 15NOV along with EBD.

The 2 'extra' A332s will be delivered new to JQ in JUN07 (msn 842) and JUL07 (msn853). Maybe thats when they start Honolulu service from Melbourne and Sydney as per their press release, thats if the Qantas pilots agree to it.

Quoting BNE (Thread starter):

This ends speculation that Jetstar was going to have codeshare flights to Vietnam.
Does anyone know if QF will keep current codeshare agreement with VN?
Its good to see more flight happening between Australian and Vietnam with MEL and SYD both having large Vietnamese populations.

This sounds about right. The current A332 in QF's is well below range meaning it can't make it all the way to HNL

Isn;t that just a software setting that can be changed on the A332's?

Fares are now up on

You can book flights like SYD-HKT etc now.

Looks like they have kept the A330-200 QF domestic config so star class (Premium Y) will be like domestic J.

Y was pricing around $600 return inc tax

Premium Y to HKT was pricing arouind $1600 return inc tax

Not bad!

Does anybody know if the former Australian Airlines' Japan routes will be (or have been) taken over by JQ or mainline QF? I am curious about the fate of SYD-CNS-NGO-CNS-SYD.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Jetstar is still trying to do a deal with VN.
VN wanted to expand beyond daily, but the Australian Govt said no, in order to force a codeshare with JQ.

Also, MEL-BKK 3pw flights announced today.

Press conference at 10am SYD time.
The fares currently online a standard fares. You can expoect some specials after the announcement.

By the way - MEL-BKK is $891 incl taxes. not THAT cheap!

JQ will take majority of the flights that QF have to Japan i think except NRT.

Looks like Osaka will go Jetstar.

http://finance.news.com.au/story/0,10166,19916594-462,00.html

LOW-COST airline Jetstar International will today launch long-haul overseas fares it believes are up to 30 per cent lower than the cheapest everyday fares available from competitors.

The airline, owned by Qantas (qan.ASX:Quote,News), will also unveil even lower sale fares to get people travelling to the six international destinations that will initially be serviced by its fleet of four ex-Qantas Airbus A330-200 jets.

Jetstar International hopes to be flying by November and is part of a push to promote the Qantas Group as two brands. The strategy will see Qantas mainline aircraft flying higher-yield routes frequented by business travellers, and Jetstar taking on thinner long-haul leisure routes.

Jetstar International will initially fly from Sydney to Honolulu, Bali, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka; from Melbourne to Honolulu, Bali and Bangkok; and from Brisbane to Osaka. It will fly up to six, 303-seat A330-200 jets with two classes, "StarClass" and economy.

I wouldn't mind trying this star class for a bit more money. Its probably the same price as QF economy
