David Hasselhoff Refused Boarding On BA Flight

Thu Jul 27, 2006 11:18 pm

I see in the Daily Mail today David Hasselhoff was refused boarding on a BA at LHR flight for being blind drunk, in the morning (he must have started early!!!)

Wonder where KITT was? He could have driven him home.......!!!!  Wink

I bet Devon wasn't best impressed!!

Best move ever made by BA. Now LH has to ban him and the world will be safe from bad songs, leather pants and a man stuck in a time warp. But this is actually kind of a sad story...

Recently claimed he had kicked alcohol. But his messy divorce sent him out of control.

David Hasselhoff: Too Drunk To Fly

Quote:
During his drunken stupor the star stumbled into a duty free shop and lifted up the manageress.

Another witness revealed: "The manager said, 'I don't think you're fit to fly, sir.' He told her. 'I think you are right.'"

Onlookers were even more horrified when a dark wet patch appeared around the actor's groin area.

BA staff decided Hasselhoff was unfit to travel and asked him to sleep it off and wait for another flight.

He was finally allowed to board a flight two hours later, but was taken there in a buggy - usually reserved for elderly passengers.

That is sad.

Wasn't he recently escorted out of Wimbledon for being drunk and disorderly, and trying to get into a Federer match without tickets?

"Come on, I'm The Hoff!"

I'm glad BA refused him. I think they should also do that when he is sober!!  Wink

So is he banned from flying on that specific BA flight? or is he banned from flying on ALL BA flights ??

Please explain to me what it means when an airline bans someone. Also, don't flame me for that.
Thanks

He was asked to not board a plane because he was intoxicated and not "fit to fly". He was asked to sleep it off and was reassigned to a later flight.

He is not BANNED. But was restricted from flying LHR-LAX due to his condition.

People give The Hoff a hard time. The guy is a legend. If he wants to get drunk and wet himself at a BA gate, then he should be free to do that. Don't Hassel the Hoff.

He was "Banned" from that particular flight, not from BA forever!!

I had no idea he was a full on alchoholic (nor Billy Joel up until recent times which I read today as well!!) You learn something new everyday!

The airline is quite right. I flew SOU-GLA a few weeks back and the fella behind me was drunk and being a nuisance and certainly not fit to travel so how he "slipped through the net" I don't know. Difficult to police I imagine.

They need to set a precendent, i.e even turn up to check in plastered and knowingly so automatic fine of 10 grand or something. Do it once with an "example" case it will soon put a stop to it.....

He was not "Banned". He was refused boarding due to his intoxicated state.

Banned has an entirely different and more ominous connotation of permanancy.

LH would not have refused him boarding because "Germany Loves David Hasselhoff"  Wink

Yea, I'm sure he wasn't drunk!  drunk

Just as well that he is a stupid drunk rather than a nasty one.

A right hook from a guy his size/build would knock you into next week.

Just a pity that he can't keep off the drink.

My entire world view is shattered...

BTW I found this on the Wikipedia entry:
On June 29, 2006, Hasselhoff suffered a freak injury when he hit his head on a chandelier while shaving.

Up until a few weeks ago when I was REALLY bored and happened to tune in "America's Got Talent", I didn't even know David Hasslehoff was even around. Would this have made news if he weren't a judge of talent on that show (kind of a oxymoron thing)??? It's amazing what lousy reality TV shows can do for someones career.

NO matter what you think about his acting and/or singing ability, if he abused his wife, etc.. Hoff has a drinking problem. Until his divorice he was either succesfully in recovery, or succesfully making it look he was in recovery.

Lets just hope he gets back (or into) recovery....

Please hope he makes it.... Both for him, his kids, etc.

On a less serious note:

If Hoff doesn't get it together, when SciFi channel brings Kitt back, she may not only be a hybrid, but with Micheal Jackson driving...

Shouldn't her name be Judy KITT if she is there to assist the Hoff. I bet she doesn't "hassel the Hoff".

RE: David Hasselhoff Refused Boarding On BA Flight

Fri Jul 28, 2006 11:42 am

I recently read about the running joke involving Hasselkoff's "Looking for - Best of" album on amazon.com.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...384-4554500?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music

Apparently it has become something of a sport to write reviews with exhagerrated praise, generous misspellings of His name and five star ratings, often capped with some variant of "the song "Hot Shot City" is particularly good." The album has over 1000 reviews by now, most of them humorous.

Here's an example:
I was walking through a wide, green meadow in a sun-dappled valley in the Swiss Alps when I came upon a spritely minotaur kneeling before a cuckoo's nest in a low branch of a fig tree. The minotaur, muscles taut and rippling, had sleek, shiny, short tan fur, gently cloven hooves, a long, slender, sloping neck, and the regal face and bushy mane of none other than David Hasselhoff. "The poor cuckoo," he said, his eyes welling with dewy tears. "Her poor nest is nearly falling from the branch. The chicks are in danger -- I must save them." I tilted my head to look up at the tree, and sure enough, the nest was teetering on a broken twig at the end of the branch. It looked as though it would surely fall. At that moment, a lilting, haunting, fragile lullaby floated up through the minotaur's furry, muscular throat -- the minotaur was singing. The cuckoo's nest suddenly shivered. I held my breath. The nest, to my amazement, detached itself from the branch and floated in the air, up through the sunlight, and slowly down into David's outstretched hand. He smiled at the nest, then turned to me and said, "The chicks are saved." He reared up, stretched his arms aloft with the nest safely perched in his hairy palms, and thundered away from me, across the meadow, into the trees, and out of sight.

Many years later, I came across this cd. After recognizing David's face and weeping for the first few songs, I pulled my blanket up to my ears. The beauty was too much. But then the strains of a long-forgotten lullaby came to my ears from the cd player. It was the song the minotaur had sung to save the chicks that long-ago afternoon. I broke down and looked at the back of the cd cover.

The name of the song was "Hot Shot City."

God bless you, David.

LH would not have refused him boarding because "Germany Loves David Hasselhoff"

Years ago there was a time, when a lot of Germans loved to see and to hear him. I think it started with Baywatch and Knightrider. Afterwards he started as a singer, he was shown in many TV-shows and he had some bigger hits.

But this happend with more "stars" than this one. And so A3xx900 is completely right , when he wrote:

But back to question: BA did the right thing to refuse him. I am often on the way with a/c and sometimes I have the bad luck to be placed beside guys that's under alcohol. I remember on one situation some years ago: One of those idiots was too drunken to open his ordered beer in the right manner. Result were wet trousers, but mine. Beside that he stunk nasty and was happy to be on a short flight from FRA-HAJ.  vomit

Oh my !! that was truley amazing, there's a whole back catalouge of the hoff on there, and come on every one knows the Germans love the Hoff !! It's ok don't be embarressed I love him too ! On being rejected from his flight well, the papers here reported him being very drunk and rambling incoherantly about his divorce, he then appeared to soil himself as a large wet mark appeared on the front of his jeans ! so not really fit to fly, hey at least it wasn't the token Scots man you always see on airport/airline programmes on tv !! Also didn't the Hoff once check into rehab then went missing on the first day and a search of the surrounding area found him absolutley nailed in a hotel room and had to be rushed to hospital ?

How can people Hate the Hoff? He is an absolute legend, If he was on one of my flights (sober of course) i'd probably die of excitement!

I'm not sure what I would talk to him about for hours and hours sitting next to him on a plane. Probably the boobs on Baywatch. Or KITT. Either way, I'm sure he'd be passed out after the first hour due to all of the alcohol (sorry, my bad, "medicine".)

It would make for a great story.

I personally don't care who you are...you may be the Queen of England, if you're drunk you're off the plane. Besides, David Hasselhoff is one of the biggest "has beens" I know of, right next to MC Hammer. Aside for the Germans, not a lot of people see him as a "celebrity". If he counts on reviving his popularity from that mediocre show "America's Got Talent", not happening. Do I sound a little bitter? LOL.  duck

we (especially I) DO love Sauerkraut!! (Here in Bavaria)

It doesn't mean all of Germany does, René, especially all of us non-Bavarians.  duck

BTW, I saw that scene from Dodgeball yesterday, the one mentioned about the Hoff telling the German Team that they were not worthy. Priceless. Big grin

Anyway, I can guarantee you, the Hoff isn't that big of a celebrity here.

Maybe the Hoff started the rumor that he was a big celebrity in Germany....the things people do to revive a career.

Apparently he doesn't need to fly commercially!
He can fly all by himself! (See the YouTube video on Reply 18)
