Differences In Tax On JER-LGW-JER With BE

Fri Jul 28, 2006 10:51 pm

BE offers LGW-JER one-way for £8.99 and £23.00 tax, so £31.99.

BE offers JER-LGW one-way for £18.99 and £13.00 tax, so £31.99.

Why the £10 difference in tax with the same airline? Surely it has nothing to do with simply departing from different airports.

Jersey has its own tax regime, independent of the UK.

It may in fact have something to do with this. Different airports have different departure taxes. In some places (usually developing countries), you need to pay in cash when you leave. In many others, though, the tax is collected by the airline and is included in the price of your ticket.

Is that the cheapest they go?! If it is, i'll pay the £8 or so more and fly BA like I have previously done,
