Hi Pat,

very nice pitcures! The one with the Avro in front of the crowd on the runwaycross shows pretty good how close you can go to the action!

Indeed a nice day, thanks the weather was on our side!  Smile

Hey Everybody!

I can only agree, what a wonderful day! Even though we've met at ZRH several times in the past, there were plenty of new and interesting things again. Wonderful to meet all of you!

Have a great summer!

Have a good time at LYR !

News from LO231: His flight on LX out of BRU was delayed by 9 hours and subsequently he was unable to participate in the tour - therefore his "ZRH-meet" sofar consisted of the meeting we have had in the IBIS's bar tonite ...

Hi guys,

as you know, it was my first meeting and I absolutely loved it!!!
It was great to see some faces behind the usernames and the tours around the airport were just awesome.
I wish I could have attended the tour through SR Techniks, but oh well, it was still a great day, which I will never forget  Smile

Hi everyone,

This meet was just as fantastic as the one we had last January. Just not enough words to say how great it was! I'll post up a web album on the website with little comments to each picture to show a bit of the atmosphere there was in the meet.
Hope to see as many of you as possible for a future meeting

Hello everybody ! Again an awesome ZRH meeting yesterday, thanks Patrick for that, I was impressed by the organization and your enthusiasm, thanks for that.

As some may be aware my beloved camera broke two weeks ago and I really missed it yesterday during the meet, but I guess some of you guys will show us some great photos from this meet taking to account some impressive equipment I saw yesterday. So... I took my dv camera with me and made some videos. I have filmed aircrafts AND people to have a more human side to my videos, I hope nobody will mind, I hope you'll like it. I've splitted in several 'chapters'.

If some of you can't run Windows Media movies then tell me, I can convert those videos into Quicktime and RealMedia videos if you wish...

As usual... right-click on the picture or the link and select 'Save target as...' to save it on your computer.

SIT BACK AND ENJOY !

Take-off from GVA for our flight to ZRH saturday morning.[6.6MB - 01:46]

Rainy landing in ZRH. [7MB - 01:15]

Some arrivals before the mtg itself started, featuring some anetters arrival.[28MB - 05:09]

The meet starts! Spotting from observation deck B.[17MB - 03:08]

Spotting from observation deck of terminal E.

THE highlight of the day, the famous cross-rwy !!! [40MB - 07:03]
For this one, make sure to set your headspeakers to LOUD !!! haha !!  cool

SR Technics tour, with RootsAir getting electroshocked and a engine test run of an RJ100![13MB - 02:18]

Nice to have meet known faces and it was really nice to meet some new anetters and non-anetters, I hope you're all doing fine !! See you all soon !

@ AviationMaster,

unfortunetly I did not get to fly with the special painted AVRO  Sad
I saw it oulling onto its parking position, but I boarded through a gate. My plane was HB-IYW, which we saw while standing at the runway cross.
I will write more in the trip report  Smile

Great pictures. I will need to check them out once I have access to a faster connection than 56K ( = "at work" Big grin ).

That "David Hasselhoff-thread print out" really is funny. Maybe the user at SR Technics who has printed it will come across this picture and will identify himself ... - at least he/she appears not to be a (checked-in) FirstClass Member ...

That's the pic I'm talking about:

No, Swiss delivered me to BRU 25 minutes early. ON the way BACK!!!!

Hi all!

I've missed most of you this time, I was sooooooooooooo angry at Swiss, but hoping my letter to them will get my money back. Anybody had a 9 hour delay on a 50-minutes' flight?

So, I attented an IBIS bar meet on Saturday, got to the viewing deck on Sunday, haven't found anyone, and then went to Zurich and discovered the city by myself.

Thanks for the tip, Don, went up to Lindenhof and have great pics of Zurich!!

I must go back to Zurich, it's such a beautiful city, I think I need a longer non-av weekend there. The smell of food from resataurants on the other side of the river, don't know the street name, actually made me plan the menu if I come there!

Hehe, anyway, had a good time in Switzerland, and brought 1.5kg duty free chocolate with me! Not that Belgian is any less of quality, I just like the milkyness in the Swiss one!

Regards,
LO231

PS. Where's my badge? I attended, really! Have proof!  hissyfit

It's going to be a long one. I'll even pull my travel agents' skills to it and do it through the agency, not private.

I'll call my sales rep tomorrow, her knowing that about 20 of my customers were on the same flight.... Ouch. Maybe they prefer Austrian after all?  Wink

Hi everyone!!!

I enjoyed this meet as much as the one in January. It was nice to meet most of you again and to see new faces!!! The Latin group was huge again (with some newcomers like Thatplaneguy).

Alejandro, thanks for posting your videos, I enjoyed the landings and the takeoffs, and also the electrocution effect with Braulio. Thanks as well for all the posted pictures.

Once again a fantastic organization, Patrick & David. And Soren great name tags!!!

LO231, I just know you through IM, but hope to meet you in the future, too bad you had such a heavy delay.

Hi all,

Nothing fancy thing to add, except a BIG up for the organisation  bigthumbsup

I was my first meet and it was so great! ZRH is amazing, the people there are also amazing. I was so happy to see fellows from all over the world!

It's also very good to put humaun face over a nickname and to share some time live with all of you...

My flight on the way back to ZRH was somewhat funny (ZRH-LYS). I put a mini Trip Report there: ZRH-LYS: Bumps, Lost Luggage And More ..(ZRH MEET) (by Rpaillard Jul 31 2006 in Trip Reports)

I do not really have amazing pictures to post. Sunday, there was an Emirates Cargo (A310) on the ramp. Good view of the unload/load operation from the terrace.

On more time, thank you very much for that excelent week end!

Hi guys,

It was great to see you all back, the already known and the new ones. We defenitely had a great time. Very nice to meet for the first time DAlelite and Richard and thrilled to see back Eric, Braulio, Alejandro, Soups and Soren.

Very special thanks to Patrick for making all this possible and the good work, as well as to those who are always willing to give a helping hand. I refer to Braulio, Soren (wonderful badges) and Lukas (for being always willing to offer help and for the Aviation magazine you always bring to all attendants)

How was your flight back with Swiss, Eric?? Guess you enjoyed it!!

Hi David, yes, I had a really nice flight on Swiss, well a little bit bumpy as we were approaching MAD. We even got a pizza calzone! On the way to Zurich, we had a free breakfast on Spanair, which was surprising as most Spanish carriers now offer buy-on-board meals (on short and European flights).

Probably for all a.netters who attended this meet, Saturday was really a long but enjoyable day. I had to wake up at 4 am as I had to take the very early flight to Zurich. Also was surprised by Zurich's nightlife. After the meet I met one of my cousins there and went to an industrial area with a large number of bars and night clubs, most of them bursting!

Hey all,

Just got in at 0015 local here in FL and am glad I came to the meet. I hope to meet again at another meet. The day was awesome. Excellent weather to boot, even with the early morning clouds. Took UA back to IAD and was delayed due to ATC flow in the DC area. 767-300 in F, not too bad. Will try to sit and write a trip report sometime in the near future. As always it is good to put faces to user ID's. On a side note G-VFIZ was at IAD last evening and seems to be the newest one by VS. Named Bubbles and launched Jul 2006.

Yeah, I've never been to that industrial area but I heard about it. It seems to be quite trendy at the moment. Did you really had to WAKE UP at 4am or did you go direct from the bars and night clubs to the Airport??hehehehe. You really took advantage of all your available time in Zürich!!

Glad you had such a great on-board service. I am wondering how IB is coping with such a competition in Zürich!! I am almost convinced that in the near future they will give this route to Clickair, the new low cost carrier in which IB has a big share and which starts operations in October from BCN. It's already confirmed they'll have BCN-ZRH from the very beginning. So, I think in one year they may operate it from MAD. Let's see...

Hi,

I was thinking about that in the plane: just figure the power of that meeting!
Just take a look at that:

I'm not sure that this one is comprehensive. You have to had the flight of our American fellows.

That rocks!

I think I might have made a star constelation - looks a bit like the Plough biggrin

I've got all my pictures of the meet sorted out, edited and uploaded now, which are available here: http://www.globetrotter2006.fotopic.net/c1038548_1.html There are quite a few of them, and they include my flights to and from the meet. Once again, thanks for everybody making it so good bigthumbsup
