Transatlantic Crossing On KLM & AF Help

Tue Aug 01, 2006 2:31 am

Finally after many years of planning, I've booked my flights to Europe. Itinerary is as follows:

KLM 612 B74M
ORD-AMS

KLM 1007 A332
AMS-LHR

AF 10 B744
CDG-JFK

I have some questions that I'd like to ask:

What type of IFE will there be on KLM's B74M in March 2007?

What type of IFE is on KLM's A332s?

Any seat recommendations on either flights? Sunrise, Sunset, City views, etc.

What about IFE on AF B744?

I assume I only clear customs @ LHR not AMS. How is connecting @ AMS?

What is Terminal 2C @ CDG like?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get seated in the upper deck of either KLM or AF 744s? I'm a WorldPerks member.

Thanks for your help.

No PTV's, pitch 31"

KLM 1007 A332
AMS-LHR

The A332 has PTV's with AVOD, but will not be used on the 40 minute flight to LHR; pitch 31"

Yes, customs/immigration at LHR. Transferring in AMS is easy. The KL612 arrives at the E or F gates. The KL1007 departs from D or E. Gates are assigned on a daily bases, so I cannot tell you what gates will be used. See www.schiphol.nl for an airport map/walking distances between the gates.

The upperdeck on KLM is the WBC cabin, together with the nose section of the B747. So to make sure you get a upperdeck seat, you need to buy a WBC ticket. Don't know about AF.

AF has reconfigured their 744's and the upper deck is now Y, so you can get a seat up there.

The Y-seats in the upperdeck of the AF B744 are supposed to be really nice. However, these seats can only be preassigned by Flying Blue elites. If you are not a FB elite, you have to wait until the check in process to get yourself a seat up there, which should still be possible. In any case, these are some of the best seats in the house.
