Jazeera Airways will be the third scheduled carrier out of ATZ, joining Egyptair and Kuwait Airways. Funnily enough all 3 carriers serve the ATZ-KWI market (MS 2x weekly A320 and KU 1x weekly A320).
Even more impressive, is that the airline has more than doubled their flights on the KWI-Alexandria/HBE* route from 5 to 12x weekly flights, which is a staggering increase considering they only launched flights on the route little over a month a go. The new schedule to Alexandria-Borg Al Arab Airport is:
KWI HBE J9506 123-56- 02:20/05:25 3hr05min 0 A320
HBE KWI J9507 123-56- 06:15/09:10 2hr55min 0 A320
KWI HBE J9516 1234567 12:00/15:05 3hr05min 0 A320 <--new daily flight
HBE KWI J9517 1234567 15:50/18:45 2hr55min 0 A320 <--new daily flight
*J9 joins BA and EK in serving Alexandria's new airport of Borg Al Arab (HBE). All other carriers serve the downtown, and arguably more preferable, Al-Nozha Airport. This may have been a condition set by the Egyptian authorities to lessen the impact the newcomer would have on Egyptair and Kuwait Airways on the route. Both MS and KU have 3x weekly ALY-KWI A320 flights.
In addition, flights to Luxor have increased from 5 to 6x weekly flights with the addition of a new Friday flight. The schedule is as follows:
KWI LXR J9502 -234567 01:45/04:35 2hr50min 0 A320
LXR KWI J9503 -234567 05:20/07:45 2hr25min 0 A320
Jazeera Airway's entrance into the Egyptian market cannot have been timed better with the Egyptian authorities implementing an open sky policy at all home airports (except CAI). Not only is their latest round of increases impressive, the airline is offering extremely cheap fares on all 3 routes, which will open up an even larger untapped market between Egypt and Kuwait. However what I find surprising is the fact there's no mention on their website of the frequency increases to HBE or LXR or that ATZ flights are being launched.
On a side note how have J9 managed to increase their flights significantly? have they improved aircraft utilisation or have they received more A320s? or maybe the aircraft that should be doing the suspended 10x weekly BEY flights have been redirected?
