Website For Best Seats In Aircraft

Wed Aug 02, 2006 7:55 pm

Hello together,

Yesterday I read in German newspaper "Handelsblatt" about the website www.lovemyseat.com, published by Consumer Travel Research Services, Inc. from Boston.

It provides you with information about seat quality in different a/c of many different airlines. As far as I unsterstood, it collects experiences of travellers and developed a system of evaluation. Coming from that it creates a ranking of good, average or bad seats in a/c.

Is there anybody in the forum knowing that service or collecting experiences with it? Could it be a service that is value to support?

I think that seatguru is a better site with more accurate information.

Judging by the NWA aircraft seating info I have the same impression.

Ok, I tried looking up the best seat for my next longhaul flight, ZRH-BOM with LX, and guess what.... there's only an A343 on the database for LX.

Perhaps they should get their database to an agreeable level before launching the site.

Oh yes, and airliners don't have kitchens, they have galleys.

well you do know about www.seatguru.com? or even www.seatexpert.com.
At the moment Seat guru is the best.

love my Seat is making its way up there, but they only just started and haven't one alot of airplanes...plus I've sent in things and they haven't changed the seats... i sent stuff in when they first started, about some really good seats and really bad seats and also how they didn't have the right set up for some Qantas planes.  Smile

I wonder if they plan to change it anytime soon Wink
anyways I think that once they get more people to put in and actually change the ratings when they do get the responses that they have a chance to be good!

there was a topic about them when they first started up, some where in the civ-av forums

they even spelt Qantas like this: 'Quantas Airways' (just in some places, like under the 'about us')
ohh well, it'll take time, but I think their concept will do good once its really known.

I'm a big seatguru fan. I think seatexpert is flawed, and I came to that conclusion by checking their opinion on what I already know. Seatexpert gives a numeric rating for comparison.

Midwest 717s in Signature Service with 2x2 seating and 33-34" pitch:
8.8 score for most seats and a description of "average"

Midwest M82 in Saver Service with conventional 2x3 seating and 33" pitch
8.7 score for most seats and a description of "average"

AirTran 717 in coach with conventional 3x2 seating and 30" pitch
8.7 score for most seats and a description of "average"

If the difference between a Midwest Signature Service seat and an AirTran shoehorned 717 coach seat is 0.1 points, I don't have much faith in their system.

Though I am a frequent flyer with LH I never heard about those seat portals. When I read it yesterday it was the first time. But this is really interesting.

Meanwhile I have checked the other mentioned sites and I agree with you: Seatguru seems to be the fittest one. Hope it will expand its list of a/c for some more short haul beasts (e.g. LH).

Seatgugu is my bible. I got my seats on the NWA A330-333 to AMS from SEA return through them. And very clear and easy to understand.
