How Fast Through Security At SJC And BUR On WN?

Fri Aug 04, 2006 10:08 am

I am considering flying this route, but want to make sure it doesn't take forever like it can at LAX.

I'd be flying about noon on a Friday out of BUR, and about noon Sunday out of SJC.

Any input is appreciated.

According to the TSA wait times site http://waittime.tsa.dhs.gov/index.html , its about 3-5 minutes for BUR. For SJC, 5-8 minutes for the A North Checkpoint, and 8-14 minutes for the A South checkpoint.

Thanks! What a great site that somehow I didn't know about.

Too bad there are no CO ERJ 145s flying the LA/SF market, as we'd be flying them instead.  Sad

Flying out of SJC every few weeks...it can get hectic at times...I've seen very long AA/WN lines (both are out of Terminal A)..fortunately, as a Platinum Member, I go in the other line and get right through.. biggrin

I would certainly make sure you have more than 15 minutes if there are a lot of pax.......

Cheers...

At SJC, as mentioned before, the north security lines seem to move faster and/or have shorter lines than the south lines. If you are facing the check-in desks, take the line on the right side (north). But on a Sunday at noon, I might venture to guess that the wait time might be somewhere in the 15-30 second range. haha! Enjoy your flights.

BUR is absolute cake. I often go through security there around 5PM on Fridays and it takes under 5 mins.

Last time I flew out of SJC was when AA was hubbing there and they had just completed the Terminal A building. It was the night that Santa Clara beat Arizona in the NCAA tournament, and the AA staff couldn't get the pax out of the bar and onto the plane until the game ended. We were delayed taking off.

We are leaving plenty of time anyway at SJC, since I have to return my car within a certain amount of time or get charged an extra hour. I was just worried it might be the hour or more you can sometimes get at LAX with WN.
