Skywest CRJ-900 In SLC 8/5/06

Sun Aug 06, 2006 3:55 am

Was in SLC today (8/5/06) and noticed OO first CR9, nice looking plane. OO is to get 6 this year (2 a month starting in Sept). Sorry didn't get a picture of N802SK, it is parked over in the OO hanger ramp area. I wanted to see EV get these aircraft, but hopefully we can get the remainder on order. We will loose the 12 AT7's in 2007, so some more CR7's or CR9's would be nice to offset the loss.

Great! Does anyone know the cities to get CR9 service from DEN? Or is DEN even going to get CR9 service?

Technically, it's not the first.  Wink

I will know as soon as UA buys some...

DEN might see the CR9 on the DEN-SLC route but that's not likely.

I am well aware of that...

I was just wondering if UA had ordered some CR9's for their OO service.

Is the first one N801SK?

N800SK. It was sitting at that very hanger last week.

Not likely. OO has already taken a bunch of our 700s and replaced them with former ACA 200's. Then they tell us that we are not cost effective. go figure. If anything, IMO, we will get more 200s since we are OO's red headed step child.

SLC-FCA
and
SLC-JAC will also be CR9 routes starting in September.

I got to go on board N800SK when it was at the hangar last week--it's a sweet little airplane! 10 First Class and 60 Economy Seats and of course, that new airplane smell  Smile The seat pitch in economy is 33 or 34 inches! It should be a pretty comfortable ride from a passengers perspective.

If they did that, the planes would be stuck in their current configuration. Having a -900 will allow more seats to be put in as the scope clause is redone.

I've observed them as well at SLC. I think this plane and the ERJ-170 are going to be the trend setters for DL Connection carriers and the number of older CRJ-100/200's will drop significantly over the next year or two.

I hope so! Now with the Freighter conversion coming, it might free up some -200's for that role.

Nice there are other uses for them that are legit' rather than crushing them up, melting them down and using the material for beer cans!
