Frequency adding: I know that both JFK flights and MIA will go daily. What other flights will be upgraded?

Riad - Jeddah goes from 3 to 4
Nairobi - Dar goes from 4 to 5
Sao Paolo - Santiago goes from 5 to 6 (by A340, means that some flights to N-America will get an A330 instead of A340)

Are they going to restart their THR flights? It is hard to believe that they are increasing their RUH/JED flights and fly daily to DXB/MCT but have terminated their THR flights. SR/LX had been flying to THR for many decades. LH has daily flights from FRA and MUC. OS still flies thrice weekly from VIE.

Is AB dropping its 4 daily ZRH-FRA services eff. WI TT? Have used them several times on this route since it launched, and loads were always very poor.

I was up to post "NO", but either my memory or my eyes betray(ed) me a few days ago when I checked AB's timetable the last time ...
However, according to my check a moment ago, from 01-NOV on, there is only one rotation on Saturday left (this is one of the feeder flights for the winter hub to the Canary Islands & Madeira).

I understand the loss of the SQ service to SIN and MAN. This making MAN down to 5x/Weekly 777-200 no more 747s.

Slightly unrelated, but LX will operate a daily ZRH-CAI-ZRH flights this winter (LX236/237). 6 flight are with the A343 and 1 with the A320. Now my question is, does the airline plan to upgrade that single A320 flight to the A343? I understand they are short on long haulers at the moment but surely offering a consistent product (especially in C class) is important. I personally flew the route in March and in both directions F was 80% full, C was 100% full and Y was around 65-70% full.

It has been pointed out to me under seperate cover, that AB will change the timings of their FRA-ZRH flights slightly and that they are currently NOT in the timetable & booking-system due to this reason. Flights will loaded into the system at a later timepoint.

I agree it is not satisfying to have once a week a 320 instead of a 343. I think LX must clearly communicate this to the passengers, and probably the C tickets on the 320 flights are cheaper than on the 343 flights. When and if Swiss gets the four 343 from AC, this problem would be solved (but these AC 343 are till now only rumours).

Fares in the A. 320 service are not cheaper in Business Class, or in Economy for that matter. After all, it's only a four hour flight.

The short flight time is also the reason why in actual fact there are no First Class fares on the flight nor any real First Class service. When the flight is heavily booked however, First is used as preferred seating for the upper tier FQTV member only.

From what I hear, LX will only be taking two A. 340s, not all four.

That's my point. I mean there is no faulting LX's onboard service. And there's no doubt having a daily service (6 A343 + 1 A320) is better than just 6x weekly A343 flights but if you book with LX expecting PTVs in Y or a flatbed in C and go onboard an A320, you might be a tad disappointed.

You can book F class fares on their CAI service. The high demand for the premium cabins is a pivotal reason why LX use the A343 to Cairo as opposed to A32Xs (have a look at availability over the next few days). If you go to www.swiss.com you can book ZRH-CAI fares for all 3 cabins. For example a ZRH-CAI-ZRH trip between 09/09/06-16/09/06 would cost 6096.50CHF in F, 2764.50CHF in C and 848.50CHF in Y. The one day you can't book an F class fare is on Mondays when the A320 is used.

@Gerardo:

There has been a thread about this about two weeks ago spoiled by an NZZ article about LX increasing its longhaul fleet by four ex-AC A343.
So far there are no news.

Fact is LX will receive two A332 (which you will know) and there are some indications (see skyland.ch) that LX will receive two ex-SR/TK A321 (TC-JMA/MB) and maybe one A320 from an unidentified source.

IMHO LX will be cautious to increase longhaul fleetsize further than the two A332 for 2007. Longhaul loadfactors in July dropped (compared to Jul05) and the two new A332 will mean an increase of production by about 5% for 07. I know that some more A343 would come handy to operate all destinations on a daily basis, but I doubt it will be four.

Greetings,
KA.

Oh yes, there was an article in the "NZZ am Sonntag" (which is a reliable newspaper) a few weeks ago . I started then this thread:
Swiss To Lease 4 A 343 From AC?
It was said in this article that Swiss is considering to take over four A 343 which will be sold by AC next year but that there are probably more airlines interested, therefore nothing is yet definite.
Here is the link to the article (in German):

EOS Airlines has announced a new business class service from ZRH, basing one of their 757s in Zurich. I just read they are operating in direct competition to Privatair, what means another ZRH-EWR flight...
that would bring 6 daily from Zurich to the NY area

Well, hopefully these aircraft are for expansion:
Does anybody know for sure that the lease agreements for the 3 ex-SwissSun A320 (HB-IJU/V/W) have been extended? They would end this winter. So the 2 A321 and 1 A320 could simply be exchange a/c.

Any news appreciated,

It would be nice to see EOS here but I am not sure if there is a market. There are already 3 flights daily JFK - ZRH and furthermore 2 flights EWR-ZRH, one of them an only business class flight (PrivatAir in behalf of Swiss). I am not sure if there is really a demand of a second only business class flight out of the NYC area to Zurich.

If true, it would make sense, as Swiss is now Star Alliance member and there is no direct flight to PHL yet. Zurich is quite an big Star hub: Swiss, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Austrian, LOT, SAS, Singapore, South African, Spanair, TAP, Thai, United. From the big members only US, New Zealand, ANA and Asiana are missing (I don't count RG anymore, unfortunately).

So they actually managed then? Last I heard, LH, OS and SK were working together trying to use their influence on Zurich airport to prevent any direct routes to the Baltics for fear they might loose traffic via their own hubs.

Good, Latvia's the last of the Baltics I haven't been to yet. So I'm all for it!
