Is it normal for German businesses to issue a press release on a Sunday?

No, rather unusual, especially for a listed company. Anyway, pax figures look good, however meaningless without indication of yields.

...they are tough workers in Air Berlin..  Silly
But it is not unusual to publish press-releases on Sunday- Airbus does it when required and other German companies have done it in the past.Bt as a rule- no -it in uncommon.

Congratulations for them! I flew AB fo the first time when I had to do a short trip MAN-STN - the service was impeccable and flight incredibly cheap. Good luck to them!

I am happy for AB that they are growing at such strong rates. I have heard many comments like DavidT's in the sense that AB offers fantastic service and I am going to discover that next month when I fly AB8181 VIE-DUS on Sep. 9th 08:35-10:05. While I would not say that my fare was incredibly cheap, I think it was a very good deal at EUR 83,00 all taxes and charges included (EUR 49,00 base fare).

Does anyone know if my plane will be a 738W? Any chance I will be lucky and get a Niki plane?
Upcoming S4 0221 LIS-PDL A310-300!!!

If you go on that forum- which is covering Air Berlin flights exclusively -some people will tell you what type of aircraft will fly on a particular day..
