No wonder they board more passengers - they have found another 12 states.

Good job southwest, and please let me know where they are, because I'd like to fly to them

Are those red or blue states? Maybe the federal government has given them the power to change cities to states. (Wouldn't want to be the person that let that release go out)

Is that even true when you consider AA and AE as one carrier?

Just curious -- I have the ASM data (AA is definitely #1), but not pax carried data.

They added Canada as separate "States" rather then to refer to Canada as the "51st" state. With 10 provences and three territories, minus Montreal because of their Frenchness = 12, plus the 50 U.S. states =62 states.

Yes, Remember, Southwest said DOMESTIC boarding, so they don't count intl boarding with AA/AE, So domestically, Southwest carrys the most passengers of all the airlines registered with the United States.

I don't remember the US declaring any other wars on foreign countries, having them collapse, and then we reap the land and somehow claimed 10 states out of it, as well as added Puerto Rico and Guam to the Union...

A previous press release (July 27) says Dulles will be their 63rd city, and that their current count is 62 cities in 32 states.

While this is an embarassing mistake, there is no need for Southwest bashing. They are the airline with the largest market capitalization and a sound business model unlike AA, CO, UA, NW etc.

Hmmm....

Maybe this:

1) Divide California into two parts, Northern & Southern California. That takes us up to 51 states.

2) Northern Nevada (RNO) 53, and Southern Nevada (LAS) 54.

3) West Texas (ELP, AMA, LBB, MDD) 55, South Texas (CRP, HRL, HOU) 56, Central Texas (DAL, AUS, SAT) 57.

4) West Missouri (MCI) 58, East Missouri (STL) 59.

5) North Florida (JAX) 60, West Florida (TPA, RSW) 61, South Florida (FLL, PBI) 62.

6) And as a bonus, MCO is an independent self-governing territory within the U.S. - don't laugh, Disney is probably more autonomous than we can possibly imagine - there's an extra piece of the puzzle, #63.

Hold the phone. Youre saying WN needs a geography lesson? There are 50 states in the USA, NOT 62. There is one thing that really helps us all sometimes and its called a map. WN only serves within the continental 48 states.

Okay, to set the record straight, it's "provinces", and Montreal is probably the most English speaking city in Quebec. Though with the way Harper practically drools over the Bush administration, I imagine we won't be a sovereign country for much longer.

And of course, Southwest doesn't fly to Canada at all...

I went right to the source, and they also recognized it for what it truly was--just a temporary moment of cranial vapor lock on someone's part in confusing 62 states with cities--and got it corrected.

Now, that's certainly not going to satisfy the folks who are now somehow erroneously convinced that Southwest is full of geographically-illiterate employees, but then again, what would satisfy them?

Actually, the USA would probably only want part of Canada. Ontario - for industry (and YYZ being the center of the known universe); Alberta - for oil (and it being Mr. Harper's home riding) and British Columbia (if you've been there, you know why). Quebec already knows that they are their own country (might even save some money with the rest of us not having to subsidize Bombardier  Smile), the Maritimes are in their own little world. As for Saskatchewan and Manitoba, well, what can one say...?  Wink

Ha! Ha! That would be the best way to serve the independentist cause here!!! cause the anglos I'm sure would rather stay in Quebec than being merged in the USA.... (a lot of the anglo population in the province is actually coming from what is now the USA as they left New England at the independence to stay within the English empire...)

But, that being said, the USA would sure love to add Quebec to their territory, no matters which language is spoken here...

Here is what Quebec means in terms of economy: natural gas (in the estuary), wood (the boreal forest), metals (north), potential diamonds (north), hydro-electricity (everywhere), wind power (estuary, Gaspesie, north...), good food, booze, pot and party til 3 am for everybody (Montreal)!

These are a lot of things that the USA could want. Now, if that happened, expect that for the first time in the history, the Francophones and the Anglos would fight side by side for the same cause...

WN now is a bit short in States to be honest : 32 is barely 2/3. This is probably a large portion of the country left uncovered. How are the legacies doing in comparison?
