CO Switching To 772ER On IAH-EZE?

Wed Aug 09, 2006 1:18 am

I just searched for EZE-NRT on CO via IAH from 3/1/07 - 3/22/07, and I noticed that although EZE-IAH on 3/1 is listed as a 762, IAH-EZE three weeks later is listed as a 772ER on the CO web site.

I realize that this could be a web site mistake, but does anyone know if CO is switching to the 772 on their EZE service at some point?

CO051 IAH EZE is loaded as a B772ER on Thursdays throughout the winter schedule. All other days are loaded as a B762ER. For the return flight CO052 EZE IAH is loaded as a B772ER on Fridays with a B762ER on all other days of the week.

That upgrade is being made possible with the introduction of 2 new 777's in early 2007, yet we'll probably not see a major impact for a year with all 18 777's having to undergo heavy checks in HKG in 2007.

CO has their heavy maintenance on Widebodies done in Hong Kong, the light line maintenance for widebodies is performed at EWR, HNL, IAH, LAX.

They do all narrobody maintenance (737s, 757s) in house, narrow body heavy maintenance facilities are located at Houston Hobby and Orlando. Light line narrobody maintenance is performed at EWR, IAH, CLE and im not sure but they had a hangar in Denver not sure if it's still utilized.

I assume that means the EWR-IAH-EWR tag ons of CO51/52 are also 777s again.

Indeed, CO 51 (EWR at 1620 to IAH at 1934) is scheduled as a 777 on that day. Anyone looking for the coveted doestic 777 flight, here's your chance.

Does anyone know the rationale behind this schedule? Why have the 777 only one day out of the week, and why that day?

Do you mean the southern or northern hemsiphere winter?

Hi, any idea when this will happen. When I flew CS1 (HNL-GUM) on May29th, the equipment was changed from a 764 to a 772 as it was heading on to HKG for maintenance. If there is definitely a "schedule" going on for this type of activity, I would to try and time my flights around these 772 equipment changes. After arriving in GUM, the 772 continued on to HKG with Pilots and F/A's in tow.

It was truly a memorable experience as I had never been on CO's 772 up until that time.
