Jet Star In Brisbane

Wed Aug 09, 2006 6:23 am

I have purchased tickets on Jet Star to fly from Hamilton Island to Brisbane. I then have a 95 minute lay over before transferring to a Qantas flight to Gladstone.

Will Jet Star check my luggage through to Gladstone?
If no, is 95 minutes enough time to claim it, recheck, and get to my Qantas flight in Brisbane?
If I miss my Gladstone flight, is Qantas forgiving about letting me go on the next one?
If I get to the airport early in Hamilton Island, is Jet Star forgiving about let me go on the flight before the one I am scheduled on?

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrew

No. JQ dont check luggage with other airlines, even though QF is the parent.

Should be. As long as you arrive in BNE on time. I think QF flights stop check in 30 minutes before departure. So you will only have 65 or so minutes to check in. However they use the same terminal so there should not be much of a problem.

Good question. I am not so sure.

No. You must travel on the ticketed flight.

It depends on your ticket type. Generally speaking, Qantas and Jetstar do not recognise each other if aircraft are late etc, and as a result, Qantas could consider your ticket null and void if you missed the flight. However, I would be surprised if that happened as check-in staff are usually understanding.

I think the question is, when is the next Gladstone flight? IIRC there aren't that many flights so you'd be waiting a while. In that case you'd probably wish you had taken the bus from Proserpine to Gladstone instead!  Wink

Isn't that a very looooong bus ride?

Thank you everyone for your help. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.

Perhaps Jetstar will allow me to pay an extra fee in Hamilton Island to go on the earlier flight if I get to the airport early. Does anyone know if that is a possibility and what the fee might be? I know Southwest Airlines will allow you to pay the difference between the fare you paid and full fare to stand by on an earlier flight.

Thanks again,

Andrew
