What If: NW, AMFA, And CHAOS...

Mon Aug 14, 2006 2:34 pm

What if, rather than a full-out, drop-our-tools-and-go-home strike like the AMFA actually pulled, the AMFA had instead gone on a C.H.A.O.S.-esque strike? For instance, one day, the entire Duluth base doesn't show. The next day, the Duluth base comes back, but all employees who's numbers end in "4" don't show. The next day, everybody shows up. The next day, the Detroit mechanics don't show up. If the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association had gone with that sort of action as opposed to the all-out strike that they did, would their situation have turned out any different? Just wanted to throw something out here...you all would know better than I would.

The company had replacements all set up..They were not going to let a Chaos type strike happen...They would have locked us out.. Which was what essentially happened at some stations .We were being escorted off the property and badges taken before the strike was officially called. This was an arguement that many strikers tried to use to gain unemployment benefits...

Just like TWA did a couple of decades back........The F.A.s need to know they are expendable..if an airline can replace trade people like mechanics, they can more easily replace flight attendents. If Chaos does happen, those involved in the action will get fired with the courts blessing. They might as well save their energy and start looking for a new job tomorrow, and save the embarresment of getting canned.
