UA: Thank You

Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:10 pm

I've just got back from 10 weeks in the USA and experenced five awesome flights on UA from LAX-ORD, ORD-DTW, DTW-ORD, ORD-LAX and LAX-HNL. The FAs are some of the best out there and the pilots were always saying good bye to the passengers and sometimes welcoming the passengers on board, which these days is very rare. UA will be my first choice when in the USA.

Thank you UA for an excellent first time experience on UA

On behalf of United Airlines and its thousands of dedicated employees, I say "Your Welcome, we know you have choice when it comes to air travel and next time you need to travel, we hope you choose to fly the friendly skies of United again, so Thank YOU for choosing United"

I don't actually work for United, but I am their biggest fan and so I feel it is appropriate that I respond since no one else has.

Anyway, too bad they don't fly to NZ anymore, I flew on UA to New Zealand and Australia in 1993. You have a beautiful country...

Thank you for the great feedback. Good to know that customers are still receiving good service on some flights. After 4 days of hell at LHR, and being on duty for over 12hours each day, it's gratifying to hear praise.
I just feel sorry for the thousands of people who have undergone the torture of LHR since Thursday. Quite why anyone chooses to transit through LHR is beyond me. (and I work there).
Once again, the airlines and the travelling public are subjected to BAA and governmental incompetence.

Honestly, I have had some great trips on United over the past couple of years. I think they've been getting a bad rap on this site. In fact, I have found most of the crew on all my flights in the past year to be great. I've flown on United, US Airways, AirTran, American, Alaska, and Southwest. I'm sure the same can be said of the carriers I haven't been on lately as well.

Most carriers on this site get a bad rap if they're not reinventing their J-Class with new lie-flats everyday, ordering the A380, replacing DC9s, etc.

I would have to agree. I just flew United LAX-MCO-IAD-LAX and had one of the best experiences I've had in many years. Service was great, on-time, awsome E+ seating among others. The buy on board salad was excellent.

They treated me (a non-rev) like a human being which is nice for a change.

The flight crews were really the best part of the experience. The flight attendants and pilots on all three legs were so nice and seemed like they really cared about the pax.

The skies are certainly brighter at United. Thanks to all of the UA employees out there!

It is good to hear praise since the outspoken people usually are the ones that have bad flights. If you read the trip reports, United tends to do a pretty good job with its relatively new fleet and respectable service. They aren't particularly innovative, but they offer a reliable product. That is why I choose United first and foremost and fly over 50,000 a year with them.

I will second that.

In the last few years, I have flown UA almost exclusively. I have never had a bad word to say about them. I have always found the crews to be corteous and helpful. The equipment has always been clean. Never an mx delay, and we have almost always been on time. (Except for an hour delay, sitting in line on the taxiway, leaving ORD)
But, even that was no biggie.

I am always happy to fly UA!

I am very glad that you had a great experience on United Airlines, and I hope that you continue to fly them! My last few flights on United haven't been all that great, though its great to know that they have been turning things around since there have been several praise threads about UA recently! I am always ready to give another carrier a try.

Not exactly. My ride on the T7 was retuning from ORD to IAD.
On our SEA trip, we were riding the hot rod 757! Also UA.

But, the T7 is a big incentive for travelling UA domestically!

I have to add my praise for UA. Also it was the first airline I ever travelled on - at age 8, YVR-SEA-PDX-OAK-SFO-LAX and LAX-SEA-YVR. On the way down to LAX, there actually were that many stops. In those days on a DC6, that was a "Coach" flight.
Over the years, I worked for AY, WA and DL. While I worked for DL, I had a few flights on UA. I have to say that I enjoyed the service immensely, in a lot of ways superior to DL.
Glad to see UAL in a positive thread!
Cheers,

Or they're not named after combination of a type of aircraft engine and a color normally associated with water.  Smile

UA is my favorite major carrier. I wish they had more of a presence in NYC. I'd been hoping to fly them to LHR eventually, but I guess that won't happen. Still, I've never recieved crappy service on their flights, even though they're not spectacularly innovative. And you just can't beat Channel 9.

The buy on board salad was excellent.

On the LAX-HNL flight, I purchased a Salad meal and it was 100% better then I thought it would be and was well worth the $5 to buy it.

I got to try two new aircraft, the B757 and B767, I was booked on a B735 from ORD-DTW but it was changed at the last minute, so I was sad about that.

I will get a trip report up in the next two weeks, after I get over the jet-lag etc.

I'm surprised I havn't seen any of the UA bashers replys yet!

Back when I was in college, I flew UA almost exclusively from PVD to MSY. I always loved getting on the 757's out of PVD and the classic 727's down to MSY. Great service, comfortable aircraft, friendly flight crews.

I'm looking forward to my next trip on UA in 10 days from MSY to FRA via IAD.

I flew United recently from Sea -DEN - FLL and the crew from DEN-FLL were terrific. I always say that it's people that set companies apart, and these 2 ladies in economy were awesome. I told them because I am a Flight Attendant with American, and they deserved my thanks and a pat on the back. All to often we hear the negative. I'm kicking myself for not getting their names and telling United they had 2 great ladies representing them. I wish all my co F/A's the best thru the tough times!

I used to fly UA exclusively to HNL and also to SYD and NRT. Right after 9/11 I had UA flights LAS-LAX-HNL/HNL-SFO-LAS. The inflight service was wonderful but the ground staff is where I had my problems. Couldn't have been any ruder if they tried. On the return out of HNL I checked in and noticed on my boarding pass that I was on a different flight from SFO-LAS. When I asked "Deb" why I was on a later flight she told me my original flight no longer existed. To make a long story short she informed me that it was my fault that I hadn't been notified blah, blah, blah. A letter to UA about this was answered with a form letter mentioning nothing about the situation. That was that. Since HA now has 13 nonstops a week between LAS-HNL, they have my business. Booked a friend on UA from LAS-ORD-TVC. Her first trip on UA and loved it. Another friend just came SYD-SFO-LAS on UA and had nothing but positive things to say. Good job UA.

I have to agree about UA - I have never had a bad experience with them. I have used them almost exclusively for domestic travel since I am close to IAD. Also used them trans-atlantic. All experiences have been positive. Never been in J or F 'cos I fly mostly for leisure and with my own $$ - but service has been great. Once on trans-atlantic - both ways - they put us in E+ since our original seat requests could not be honored - and this in spite of not having any status!

I will choose them whenever I can.

LOL, I heard that once too...laughed for some time about it...must have had the same pilot...  Smile Thankfully, however, UA is not bankrupt anymore, and the skies are becoming sunnier...sent a letter to them yesterday complementing them on Skywest's great service a few days ago...told them how much better Skywest was than Mesa...and that there were a total of 3 blankets (I counted) in all of coach on my DEN-LAX flight...and I took one of them...plus I was an exit row seat (row 16) on the 757...quite comfortable...boy did I sleep well...

Yuck!!! If a blanket isn't wrapped in packaging...meaning it's fresh from being laundered, I would NEVER use it. Imagine people sneezing into, blowing into and babies spitting up into that blanket you are using. I've seen it all. Yes, it may have been folded nicely by some cabin cleaner, but it's full of germs. Unless it's in a package when it's on my seat, airline blankets and pillows never touch my body.
