Number Of Southwest 737-500s In Brown?

Tue Aug 15, 2006 5:38 pm

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how many of Southwest's 737-500s are still in the older colors. As far as I can tell from a quick search through the database, N504SW may be the only one although there aren't any 2006 photos of N502SW, N508SW, or N509SW. Thanks to anyone able to help.

I went for a stroll on the other site and found that 502SW, 508SW, and 509SW have all been repainted.

Didn't Southwest say that they're always going to keep 3 aircraft in old colours after the canyon blue painting is complete to remember their heritage? Maybe they'd keep 1 733, 1 735 and 1 73G in the old livery.

The three aircraft being kept in the old colors are all -700s. N711HK is one, and the other two numbers escape me at the moment.

N714CB and N792SW? That's a guess.

OPNL, you guys been purposely sending all the harvest gold ones here to PDX? All the birds I've seen landing here in the past few days have not been canyon blue...that's quite the feat Big grin

I also heard N711HK and N714CB and N738CB which may or may not be true. N711HK has been repainted in the gold scheme which looks better in my opinion.

Not sure about the other two.

Not sure the exact models, but last week at SMF (I was traveling through) almost all the planes were in the old color. I wonder why this airport has this high of a ratio.
Nonav.com kinda like Whiners except the lights are on and the pimps been paid

Nah, it just seems that way... Purely luck of the draw...

I saw at least two with the old scheme on the ground in PHL last week.

I believe you are correct. What I have heard is, like N711HK, N714CB and N792SW will be painted in the special gold version of the classic livery. 714 because Colleen Barrett (hence the CB) and 792 because it was the last WN 737 delivered in the old colors. Both aircraft have yet to be repainted. N711HK is the only one so far.

As far as -500s in old colors, I'm not sure how many are left. We don't see -500s out here at SAN anymore. We did have one on Saturday though and it was in the old colors. I believe it was N505SW...maybe? I don't remember.

I believe this thread is about WN's 737-500s in the brown colors. Those are all -700s. WN still has MANY 737-300s and 737-700s in the brown colors. It will be some time before the entire fleet is blue...minues the three -700s that are to remain in the classic scheme (as discussed above).
