The New Private Air 767 And Geneva

Tue Aug 15, 2006 6:08 pm

Is the acquisition of the new 767 ( 56 seats ) a corner stone for the developement of premium routes to/from GVA in a near future.

I know the news release said "charter flights" but the lack of some routes highly asked by big companies in Asia and the West Coast with headquaters in the region like Serono could make a niche market very profitable.

The problem of the A319LR was its use on some German-US routes.

Besides, if correct,I would find the communication strategy very smart at this stage and time.

Am I wrong ???

I don't understand 100% of what youre saying, but do you mean that it will replace the A319?

To my understanding, it will replace one of the BBJ's, but im not certain.

I may have been unclear right.

I considered solely the 767. My guess, after few rumors of the airport approached and being approached by different partners ( airlines and multinational companies among others ) on the long -haul segment, the arrival of the 767 could mean an opportunity to open premium regular services in a near future on selected routes out of GVA.

Do you think is it plausible ?

767 with 56 seats?? I doubt. You mean a new 737BBJ like they already use on the ZHR-EWR route. A think a 767 with only 56 seats is almost empty, this would not be a business seating and even better than a common first class.
Edited: I apologize. I saw this 767 on PrivatAir page. I find only 56 extremely comfortable. The 737BBJ has almost as many. This 767 must be a really luxury charter, i don't think they use it on scheduled airline services.

I don't understand. How is the A319LR being used on German - US routes a problem?

BTW, the name is Privatair, not Private Air

That was my first reaction as well, but a PR on the Privatair web site confirms it:

(And I thought 100 odd seats on MaxJet was pretty nice already)

Because now they can't use it for flights from GVA ! It seems the aircraft are flying for LH on a mid/ long-term contract.
Exceptions confirm the rule.

I understand what you're writing, but the PR states that the VIP 767 will replace the 28-seat BBJ based in GVA. It is my understanding that the 28-seat BBJ is not used for any sort of scheduled airline service, but strictly charters.

As I already said, I think this 767 is extremely luxury (first class seating not business) and will also only be used for charters. I don't think that there is an airline which will use it for scheduled airline service like LX and LH with the 737BBJ and 319CJ between ZRH and EWR or DUS, CGN and EWR.

Edited for correction: DUS-ORD and EWR; MUC-EWR (not CGN).

I browsed on the Swiss page about their PrivatAir BBJ2 service. The 737 has 56 seats with a 60" pitch and lie flat seats. Imagine the 767 with the same number of seats. It must have private suites.
