737NG Winglet Rush?

Tue Aug 15, 2006 8:19 pm

I have noticed an advert for 737 winglets in some aviation magazines. Its basically a winglet with loads of little flags on it and the text mentioning that airlines from 80+ countries have chosen to install them.

Now, amongst the flags are those from Israel and Trinidad. Does this mean that e.g. El Al and BWIA have bitten the winglet bullet, or were the flags for the advert graphic picked at random?

Is there a list of airlines that have decided on winglets but have yet to install any?

KLM (NG's) and SW (Classics) recently ordered them. It has to do with fuel prizes changing installation trade-offs.

It's definatley a worthwhile endevour, i was reading an article recently saying airlines could save between 75,000 to 90,000 gallons of fuel per year per aircraft. Very impressive!
