Working Conditions On Jetstar Inter.

Wed Aug 16, 2006 6:08 pm

Can anyone misspell a rumour that I heard regarding the working conditions for the new Jetstar International.
Cabin crew will operate sectors like
SYD-DPS transit and then DPS-SYD?

Also that they will be encouraged to sell as much products as possible on board, to offset their low pay scales (what ever they may be).

Sound very harsh doesn't it?

My understanding is that this is what Ansett crew used to operate. While its a long day its still 'legal'. Perhaps an ex AN crew member can verify. It may seem harsh but its possible. As for the selling on board, you can only sell what people want to buy.

I know that AN crews definately operated a MEL-DPS-MEL duty; although as for SYD-DPS-SYD I'm not sure.
Could well be, but then again, SYD-DPS is a longer flight than MEL-DPS.
Yuck!!!

Yep,
it's correct, hence the late departure from Australia.

With QF/AO, some flights were extended to SIN, hence providing longer layovers for crew.

My understanding is that these will be turnaround services.

SYDDPS 18:00 21:20 JQ37 ….F.S //DPSSYD 22:35 07:20+1 JQ38 ….F.S

MELDPS 18:45 21:50 JQ35 .T…S.// DPSMEL 23:00 07:20+1 JQ36 .T…S.

I'm sure crews will be rewarded with additional time off etc for this 12 hour mission.
