1st SQ 773ER To Leave Paint Shop Within The Week!

Fri Aug 18, 2006 3:39 am

Attention PAE Spotters!

My brother (Intothinair) and I got to see the rollout of the yet to be painted first SQ 777-300ER on tuesday night (bad pics only unfortunately). According to the Boeing Tour it takes about four days to paint their planes so it should be out quite soon.

Cheers, Alex

PS. Pics of the trip coming soon in my trip report!

AFAIK, those SQ 77W were supposed to enter service some time in September.

Can't wait to see them finally rolling out! (Hint to Royal  Wink )

There are some exciting planes coming soon:

TAAG 772
TAAG 73NG
Egypt Air 738
Singapore 773ER

I hope to be able to shoot them, but other talented local photogs, people like Erick Lopez or Matt Cawby, might beat me to the punch.

Don't forget the 747 LCF. Do you know if it'll be painted in Taiwan or in Seattle and in what scheme?

Ahh...but what of the interior of SQ's 773ER? Will they debut the new C and F seating on this bird or wait until the A380 arrives?

Well, I am guessing here as I don't want to bother my contacts, but I would gather it will be painted in Taiwan. I think this makes sense because it is A) Flying to BFI for flight testing (and they dont have a paint booth large enough) and B) I am sure the paint booths at PAE are busy enough as it is.

A better question is what colors will it be painted in?

Add the China Cargo 747ERF to the above list.

It better be in Dreamliner colours, but with a special variation, especially to make the bulge more pleasing to the eye. Big grin

My connecting-of-the-dots says that it will be painted in the livery of the airline operating it, Evergreen Int'l. See Boeing 744LCF Out Of The Hangar -- Photos (by Brenintw Aug 16 2006 in Civil Aviation) reply 103 for my rationale.

Maybe there will be a compromise for the colourscheme. Boeing Dreamliner colours combined with Evergreen's green.  Wink

I can see your point though, it would make sense.

I hear from my source in Taiwan that the 744LCF will be painted in full white only.

They will seat 278. So that would be a 3 class configuration with so few seats. Havn't heard the actual numbers though.

Have I missed something here, but what's so special about it, exactly? Singapore already have a load of 777-300s and there's plenty of pics of them on the net, so why is it their "first"?  confused

This will be their first 777-300ER and will be their first 777 to feature GE engines  Smile

Can't wait to see the first one, I wonder if it will have larger titles similar to the A380!

On a side note, when is the first A333 due?

Anyone know the seat count / config on SQ B744 used to AKL? If B77W is 286, then it is interesting to compare and consider future SQ plans for AKL.

The current B747-400 has 12F / 50J / 313Y.

278 seats will be interesting.

278 will indeed be interesting. That's about 100 less than the B744!

Looks to me like we could be heading for 3 daily nonstops SQ between SIN - AKL (1 B77W per day SIN-AKL and 2 x B772ER).

Anybody knows which of the MEL flights the 773ER will be operating? I will be heading back to Singapore from Sydney and currently, I'm booked on SQ222 on 21st Dec, and if it's confirmed that the A380 will not appear on my flight, I'm prepared to switch and leave from MEL if the 773ER will be appearing there.

Thanks!

Either that but I think its more likely that SQ285/286 will get upgraded to an A380 now that SQ have firmed up another 9. And even then they may add a third flight IMO.
