Aeropostal Annouces New Destinations

Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:02 am

Aeropostal - or better - it's President, Nelson Ramiz, announced two new destinations today:

Santiago (Dominican Republic)
to be operated from as of October 4th three weekly MD83 services
Monday, Wednesday and Friday

La Romana (Dominican Republic)
to be operated as of November with two weekly MD83 services
Thursday and Sunday

Puerto Plata is doing pretty well now in summer and it will be continued in winter season.

Both - of course - from Caracas.

These are nice news. Maybe this is the way to go. The airline needs to find some new destinations maybe apart of the big routes in order to achieve a better yield.

The airlines received the 8th MD83 this week and will soon be operating the US routes by itself. Apart of these 8 MD83 there are still 12 DC9-51 and 7 DC9-30. So fleet is up to 27.

Well I gues these are good news, even though Dominican Republic is already served by Aserca if I'm not wrong.

So, how many flights per week are they going to make and when? I suppose on weekends, right?

Regarding their fleet, they have a considerably large one. I hope they can improve it and replace the oldest DC-9s

Saludos

Good news for Aeropostal...  thumbsup

And speaking of, any news on its Central American subsidiary? I heard rumors they will not start operations, but I don't know for sure...

Saludos,
Carmen
Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

I heard Alas de Centroamerica WILL start. The AOC is there and it looks like the TIKAL JETS frames arrive early September in SJO. And then leasing is due every month and they can't afford to park them. So I expect Alas de Centroamerica to start as LCC by mid September.

BTW: STI and LRM are still not in the GDS.
