AZ & MilleMiglia

Fri Aug 18, 2006 8:48 am

Hey everyone,

I just signed up with the AZ frequent flyer program as I would like to fly with them next year.

Upon completing the registration form on the US website, it displayed a card with my FF number on it. (And also said to print for future reference as most websites state.) As I was on a computer without printer access, I was hoping that, like most other airlines do, would e-mail it to me. As I received an e-mail from them with my pin number, they did not include the FF number on there. I contacted AZ customer service several times however, I was on hold for approx 1/2 hour (I tend to be an impatient person). I also searched the website to see if there was anywhere I could either e-mail and or request my FF number.

Any suggestions?

This is Deja vu for me. I signed up for EK's FF program last Sunday and the exact same thing happened. I tried calling them but was on hold for 45 minutes thus I gave up. The only difference between my story and yours is that I received an e-mail (first e-mail from them) on Wednesday with my FF number and password. Hopefully they'll send you an e-mail with your account number.

Emirates will send you a physical Skywards Frequent Flyer card within the usual 2-4 weeks. The information will also include partners, promtions, and other information pertaining to Emirates. Was able to fly JFK-DXB in April and was beyond impressed with the new P class product on the 345. The second trip was in J class from MXP-FCO-DXB-MXP and was nothing to short of wonderful on the 777-300. Economy Class did not look bad at all. The first time I flew Emirates was in 2002 from MUC-DXB, that was in Economy and was nothing to complain about. In the interim I was able to fly LGW-DXB-SYD in Economy and again was more than impressed with the products both on the 777-300, and 345 in Economy Class.

I was unfortunate to have the Alitalia program back in the late 1990's until 2002. It was a nightmare to use. Thankfully, the address used on my account was my brothers in Verona. However, I would strongly urge anyone that if they live in the U.S. the Alitalia program is not going to be that useful. Over the 6 years that I had the card, and its benefits when I need to contact someone in their U.S. call center it was a nightmare. My parents, and a few relatives here in the NYC area have the card as well.

My uncle called the other day and got a sassy person from what would seem the Bronx. She said that she didnt know the code for Verona, and she didnt know how to spell it. When my uncle told her V-R-N. She said "Oh Verona, New Jersey"? "We dont fly there". He said something back to her. She replied with "Alitalia doesnt fly to Verona, Italy". He explained to her that they did. She said that if he wanted to book a JFK-FCO in J class and a FCO-VRN in Y he needed to call the Alitalia C.S. center in Italy.. Needless to say this kind of interaction drove me away from Alitalia in the first place.

Unfortunately along the way I have sent my British Airways Executive Club membership, American Airlines AAdvantage, Continental Airlines One Pass, and Air France/KLM Flying Blue sailing away. None of them ever had availabitlity and were less than accomodating when it came to customer service. The British Airways Executive Club Miles I cashed in for a JFK-LHR-MXP in World Traveller Plus/Euro Traveller, and a JFK-LHR/LGW-VRN in Club World/Euro Traveller. The American AAdavantage Miles I cashed in for LGA-DFW-SMF Economy Class in June, LGA-DFW-SNA Economy Class in July, and JFK-LAX-HNL Economy Class in May. The Continental Airlines One Pass I cashed in last October for a Business First EWR-GRU-GIG. The Air France/KLM Flying Blue I cashed in for a World Business JFK-AMS-DXB in January, and a World Business LAX-AMS-CAI-JFK in March.

Another card you may want to look at is Lufthansa Miles & More. I have used up the balance of my Varig Smiles Miles, a project in and of itself. I have used the miles for a free one free Lufthansa Business Class ticket from LHR-MUC-VRN in November, and one Economy Class ticket on Lufthansa from LHR-MUC-VRN in February. Then I decided to cash in my United Airlines Mileage Plus miles and was able to net a LHR-SFO-SMF in Economy Class on United Airlines in October, and a LHR-FRA-CAI in Economy Class on Lufthansa in January. I am stil heavily banking on my Lufthansa Miles & More Program as I have found that Lufthansa's Miles & More program is very hard to beat! I am not touching the Lufthansa miles I have banked until I have to. I am at 97,580 at this point within this past calendar year.

Geesh ... That's a bummer. I think it's amusing that the first "Verona" that was on the CSR's mind was NJ. I also hope service isn't like that on the planes? If that is the case, I will stick flying AF or KLM, (although *never* connecting through CDG).

Thanks for the information or should I say ... Mille grazie.  Smile

Interesting thing I found from Jacobin777 is that I'll earn my EK MNL-DXB-NBO-DXB-MNL on my UA FF program. Didn't think so at first since UA and EK are not 'partners' so to speak.
