Ryanair's website has 48,000 poles a month flying to/from the UK alone.
(look under press releases).
As I have a polish girlfriend I travel there nearly 10x a year..
From the horses mouth... she says..
People in Poland cannot afford to fly domestically plus it's a hassle, trains are easier. Most older poles have no where to go, or stay local.
Most of the younger people are traveling to the UK for work... these fly Centralwings, Wizzair, SkyEurope and Ryanair mostly.
Ryanair is the favoured as they fly to the most varied destinations.. all over the country to the UK... Most of the others tend to regionalise to Warsaw, Krakow or Katowice... and draw more tourists.. and still loads of Poles.
Advertising in Poland (especially Krakow, Warsaw and Rzeszow) is on billboards around the town, buses etc. Not too much on TV
Most passengers 80% are Poles working in the UK and commuting to/from the UK to home... hence any Polish or UK holiday government holiday tickets are sold out months in advance.
One thing to note... Poles go on holiday to everywhere else in europe.. much less for work... Because of this flights to say Barcelona are more popular than Frankfurt (Ryanair pulled it's Rzeszow - Hahn flight for example)
For this reason.. it's Poland to the UK / Ireland for work and it undoubtably the most sold out.
Then it's Poland to european beaches..
If it's business travel then they fly by the majors Lot, AUA
I recently did a trip report on a ryanair STN
