I'm in my office right under the approach path. I can see all taxiway, gates, and runways from here. I'm awaiting Air Force One, but unfortunately there's no certain way to get an exact time of arrival.

That is a disturbing article since there doesn't seem to be any definite cause. Was it a perfume, pepper spray, something in luggage, or what?

What is worse is that there will be delays:
The check-in counters for American Airlines and US Airways, which are next to the checkpoint, are closed while airport officials continue investigating. No passengers are able to check in that area, which could delay afternoon flights.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

"Airport Checkpoint Closed, 15 Taken To Hospital

(WCCO) A security checkpoint was closed and more than a dozen airline employees and security workers were taken to local hospitals from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Tuesday after workers reported irritating fumes.

Security checkpoint one, which is near the check-in counters for American Airlines and US Airways, was closed down while officials investigated the source of the fumes.

Fifteen people, all airline employees or Transportation Security Administration workers, were taken by ambulance to four local hospitals, including United Hospital in St. Paul or Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn.

All of the people taken to the hospitals were conscious when they left the airport.

Pat Hogan, airport spokesman, said the workers said around 11 a.m., a cloud appeared and reported their eyes, noses and throats hurt.

Investigators do not yet know what the irritant was but think it could be cologne or pepper spray. Officials said the incident was not terrorism-related, nor will it affect President Bush's visit to the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon.

Airport workers are trying to set up alternative check-in areas to help get people on their flights. The other security checkpoints are busy because the extra traffic from the closed checkpoint, but the rest of the airport is functioning normally, Hogan said."

Wow!!! If they aren't sure (never mind that it reportedly made a cloud), that would qualify as some pretty rank cologne, eh? LOL!

Perhaps some cleaning chemicals got spilled and mixed together, that could cause noxious fumes. Great timing for it to happen when the President Bush is in the area.

While I didn't see Air Force One land, I saw it at the National Guard area just a few seconds ago. There were no planes in the air for about 25-30 minutes. Just a few minutes ago, a huge line of black cars sped away from Air Force One and across the runways. Seems like they were taking a short cut to Cedar Ave. As of 2:15pm, traffic is moving again and the first aircraft in the air after this delay was a United 737.
