No, they won't. It's been discussed many times. They are prefectly content with their codeshares with NW, DL, CO, AA, HA, LN, KL/AF, etc. As they are only a regional airline it doesn't make sense for them to be tied into one particular alliance.

The consensus on this board is no, because AS can make more money having partners across multiple alliances (e.g. DL, AA, AF, BA, NW, KL, CX, LA) than it can by focusing on only one alliance.

That said, Skyteam might be a better choice for them if they decided to join an alliance, because they could easily codeshare with DL, NW, CO and KE at their SEA hub, where OneWorld would only give them feed on AA and BA.

Additionally, one of the perks AS is able to offer it's frequent flyers is the large number of domestic partners. I can fly AS, AA, DL, or NW domestically and earn EQM's (and I can fly CO and get miles but no EQM's). Join an alliance, and some of the choices go away.

Hi,

You also have to know that any Flying Blue Member could earn miles with AS since May or June. There also was a special at that time: every miles earned is X2. I was on a flight between ANC and LAX at that time: lucky, for sure Big grin

AS is the code share whore of airlines, it would be easier to say who they did not code share with.

That's not a very polite way to describe the situation Big grin

Anyway, it's a good deal for both AS and the partner. Alaska is not a easy market to serve for AF, for example. Code Sharing should be the best option!

But it IS accurate.  bigthumbsup

I'd rather they not join an alliance . . . just remain a free agent, and codeshare where it profits them. It has - thus far - worked just fine.

As for previous threads, this topic, here's a few:
