Nice to see.

I have flown LPL-MAD-LPL a couple of times and enjoyed it.

Any Guesses on New Routes?

I think domestic routes will dominate a lot of the new routes...

MAD-BCN
MAD-VLC
MAD-AGP
MAD-LPA
MAD-TFN/TFS
MAD-PMI
MAD-BIO
MAD-AMS
MAD-CIA
MAD-MUC
MAD-DTM
MAD-LIS

Think thats enough to get them started and to worry the likes of Air Europa, Spanair, Iberia and Vueling!

MAD - ATH perhaps?
this seems to be the domain of the full service carriers, and would do exceptionally well over summer, when thousands of Australians head over and combine greece and spain.

i wonder what the number of actual pax easyjet carries that are from australia during summer.

fingers crossed for an EDI flight, Edinburgh is always full of Spanish during the summer. Iberia dont seem to be too interested, so hopefully Easyjet will beat them to it and launch a direct flight.

Theres gotta be a pretty huge demand for such a flight...

I'm looking forward to a lot of these new domestic routes. I flew Easy Jet to ORY from MAD and it was a very pleasant flight.

MAD-SVQ that would be a loser, similar to ORY-MRS.

i think EDI-MAD should work what about GLA as well but on a lesser frequency. MAD-RAK could that work?

I understand we will be basing 4 A319s there to start with, think we could see a MAD-BCN shuttle service also flights to the Canary Isles, routes are to be announced in September!

I was thinking this too. Considering the new services to ATH including MXP-ATH and more frequencies on LGW-ATH I think MAD-ATH could work and would certainly give IB a run for their money on routes like this.

MAD-BCN is already a catfight, and the high speed train is coming soon so I don't think being there is a priority if everything EZY wants is making money.

The canaries are another different think, but would be among the longest routes EZY would fly, and usually call for bigger a/c and are also heavy with charter traffic.

MAD-AGP, MAD to Santander, Vigo, Bilbao, Murcia, the Balearics, Lisbon, etc. even Granada would probably be better.

Just fantastic news!! For many people but especially for me who I fly them frequently and live in Madrid!!! A couple of months ago I got the confirmation that Easyjet got new slots for certain Spanish destinations. I don't have the list here (hope I still have it at home) but I remember it included SVQ, BIO and a destination in the Canary Islands (not sure but I think it was Tenerife)

I also think EDI and ATH would be successful as well as Prague and Istambul (at least during the summer) and Marrakesh for the whole year. It's becoming a fashionable destination for Spaniards and we must have into consideration that one of the biggest immigration communities in this country is Morrocan.

BTW really bad news to the Domestic carriers. They'll have to adjust to the new reality.

Can't wait for September to find out the plans they have for Madrid.

MAD-SVG by AVE (high speed train) is very good. The service is excellent, there is one train almost every hour, it only takes two and a half hours to get there and you needn't be at the station two or three hours in advance as when you go by plane. But the price for the return ticket is over 112 Euros. I guess prices with Easyjet will start at 45 or 50 Euros return which will prompt many people (including me, hehe) to choose them. For the price of the bus, you go by plane.

I believe it can be successful. Hope so...

I predict this will be very much the same, just like Vueling will lose money on the VLC-BCN route.

On a MAD-SVQ flight U2 will just sell tickets while they're cheaper than the AVE, and you don't make money selling seats at 100 euro return.

Also, they won't be able to compete with the AVE in frequency unless they're in the business of flying empty seats, which doesn't seem the case.

Well Air Nostrum and Spanair both fly from MAD to XRY so I am assuming there is some demand.

I was looking some more at the list and I'm very excited for MAD-AMS, hopefully the hours are good for a spotting trip.

Wonder if IB will introduce complimentary soft drinks in economy from MAD.
