Who Is Taking Flying Lessons?

Tue Jun 27, 2000 12:59 pm

Who in here is taking flying lessons? If you are, please tell where you are taking them, what kind of airplane, and how far along you are!

I am flying out of Lake In The Hills, IL, I fly a Cessna 172R Skyhawk, and I am just starting the cross-country phase.

I am currently taking lessons in a Cessna 172RG for my flight instructor certificate. I have my checkride beginning this Thursday. When I get back to Purdue in August, I will be learning multi-engine flight in a Beechcraft Duchess.

That sounds cool! I have seen the Duchess and it looks like it's a nice plane. I am trying to get my private license this summer before I go to SIU next year, then I will work on whatever's next.

I am working on getting my private license right now. I am currently flying Cessna 152's out of Ellington Field in Houston, TX. I have my first dual cross-country next week. We should be flying to Lake Charles, LA. Hopefully I will have my private license within a month, and then it's onto commercial training. The ground school and flight school I attend send many graduates to COEX. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future, I will be one of them. Good luck to the rest of you in your flight training!

I started my JAR PPL here in the UK late last year. I logged 9hrs on C.152's, but a move across the UK meant I had to delay further training and find a new school.

Anyway, I have just joined a local club in Surrey flying PA-28's. Had a familiarisation two weeks ago and my lessons start again formally this Saturday...weather permitting!

I already have a professional career in construction so my flying will be just for fun. One day hope to have a share in a nice four seat tourer.

I just completed my long x-country flight, which is part of the requirement for an instrument certificate, which I will hopefully have in my pocket within a month or less. It is hard to concentrate on the studies and flying, while working 55-60 hours every week and being married. I fly out of Bowman Field in Louisville, Kentucky.
Here is the aircraft I currently fly, also known as the banana:

I just completed my first solo flight last last weekend. I am 16 years old and turn 17 in the winter. I currently have 36 hours in the Cessna 152 II and 0.6 hours in PIC. I fly out of Manassas Regional Airport/Davis Field in Northern VA. During school season, I fly a few times a month and the summers I fly 2 times a week, permitting weather. Hopefully by late summer I'll start my x-country flight to CHO and maybe get my PPL in the winter/spring of 2001. I'm attending ground school in July which last for about 8 weeks.

In mid-July I'm starting my studies at the Academy for International Aviation Careers in Brisbane that will see me have my Diploma of Applied Science (Aviation), Commercial Pilots Licence, Command Instrument Rating and Airline Transport Licence theory passes by December 2001. I also have the chance to complete my instructor rating, turboprop endorsement, pressurised aircraft endorsement and other ratings if I wish to do them. I'll start flying in the Eagle 150, then progress upto the C-172, BE76 Duchess and the C-425 Conquest.

I currently have 15 hours in the Skyfox Gazelle aircraft, but as the Skyfox is a very basic aircraft (i.e. it has no flaps or mixture), I'm going to have to basicly start from scratch when I begin my course.
