I think our policy is consistent with most North American policies. Anywhere we fly where flights operate on a daily basis, taking into account contractual and crew rest considerations, you're returning 24 hours later. Great for time off, but a 24 hour layover on the YYZ
cycle is a killer. By comparison, CX
allows their crews in NYC a 72 hour recovery period.
On flights with less than daily frequency, we're on the next flight out. Some of the better trips include 48 & 72 hours in PVG
). Extended SCL
cycles during our summer (their winter). With the upcoming proposed YYZ
777 route, we all expect it will be YYZ
(24 hrs), SYD
(24 hours) > YYZ
There have been some oddball layovers in the past such as all day (14 hour) layovers in GRU
. Basically the aircraft and the crew travelled together, but scheduling changes have altered those.
