Does Anyone Know The Story On PIT-MIA?

Sat Aug 26, 2006 6:34 am

PIT-MIA was served by US on Sat. the flight is no longer available. Does anyone know what is going on? Has US decided to drop the non-stop service?

PIT-MIA is served non-stop via AA with 1 daily ERD. If US doesn't bring back the service, do you think AA will add another frequency?

AA would love to add a frequency on MIA-PIT, as well as MIA-CLE, MIA-CVG, and a few others, but has no aircraft to do so.

Does AA Eagle still rotate in that ERJ from ORD-PIT? They still have no regional jets based at MIA, correct?

Not with 13 new routes starting on 9/6/06 alone according to their website, mostly from ORD of course.

Simple re-allocation of aircraft, switching mainline and Eagle. It represents zero growth, because for every new flight, something has to be cut.

The funny thing is, that half of those routes are not new.

DFW-GSO: AE already flies it. As of 06Sep06, mainline will not.
DFW-MDT: New, but replaces DFW-BUF.

LGA-JAX: New; replaces an LGA-GRR frequency.

MIA-IND: AE already flies it. As of 06Sep06, mainline will not.

ORD-BWI: AE already flies it. As of 06Sep06, mainline will not.
ORD-CAE: New.
ORD-GSO: New.
ORD-BDL: Switching from mainline.
ORD-BNA: AE already flies it. As of 06Sep06, mainline will not.
ORD-JAN: New.

STL-SAT: Not American Eagle. It is AmericanConnection, a seperate airline.

American Eagle has no spare ERJs or CR7s. They do have spare Saabs and ATRs.

Yes that's right. It is crewed from the ORD domicile. "Domestic" Eagle does not have a crew base in MIA (or RDU for that matter). Executive has a MIA domicile, but it's all ATR flying. All the jets in MIA are routed via ORD, plus a couple from DFW and maybe one or two from the LGA/BOS domiciles, thought I can't remember a current routing from the northeast. I don't have specific details, but I know one of the DFW crews goes DFW-CLT-MIA.
See, I knew American Eagle was first class all along!

So the route is actually ORD-PIT-MIA? AA currently serves PIT-MIA twice daily on Sat. and Sun.

Does anyone know what happened to US's Sat. B733 PIT-MIA. I noticed that PIT-MYR is now 1 E70 and 1 B733 on Sat. Did the aircraft get moved around?

What crew bases still remain in PIT?

Depends on what you mean. I'll be more specific. It's NOT a through routing, like a same plane service that makes a stop. Here are the routings that include 4350 PIT MIA

4073 ORD-PIT 0800 1025
4350 PIT MIA 1055 1339
4403 MIA CMH 1708 1942

The other flight is the same, one flight ORD-PIT another flight PIT MIA then they go to a different city for their overnight.

Is that the same crew on all those flights? Seems like a really long day!
