I got to get on this plane the last time it was at Dallas Love Field for some "warranty work". Words cannot describe the plushnish (is that a word?) of this plane. The plane had about $300 million, I think, in refurbishments when the plane first came into Associated Air Center. If I remember correctly, the plane came from Air China. They spent $1 million on just the carpeting alone. It is 50% wool and 50% silk. The IFE has about 1500 movies "on-demand" and in the back of the plane are about 48 business class seats, as the man who owns it takes about 48 people with him on each trip.
It is TOTALLY pimped out !!
We just weren't allowed to take any photos of the interior of the plane..........
When you first walk on board the plane, there is a place for a podium and this is where the Koran is normally placed. Above this podium in Arabic writting is some type of saying such as, "Allah is good and I worship Allah, therefore Allah should bless me and give me more $$$$" Or something like that. We heard that definition from some of the workers who were working on the aircraft. The plane is just totally beyond description inside.
I would be happy to share a photo with you I took of it taking off from Love Field on its way back to Paris, which was its first destination of the jet's journey back to Saudi Arabia.
I've tried uploading it to this site and the other site, and the photo gets rejected for being "back-lit". It is a killer shot, right at rotation. You'd think that it would get some "special" consideration since it is kind of a rare shot. Not a lot of private 747-400's in the world.
e-mail me and I'll be happy to send it to you and anyone else who requests it.
