European Ticket Price Fluctuation?

Mon Aug 28, 2006 2:45 am

I was just wondering if anyone had any links or idea where I might be able to find some information on European schedule airline ticket prices over the last five years. I need to construct a graph or chart to illustrate the decline in prices made by airline like British Airways in order to remain competitive with the increase in strength of LCC's. If anyone could help I would be most greatful.

No smart ass replies thank you, I have already extensively scanned the internet!

Thanks

Paul

I've been thinking about your post for a while, and to be honest, I'd be surprised that such information (reliable information) would b available in public forums ( I could be wrong, mind!!) Obviously factors such a employee costs etc etc would play a huge part of the realisation of the valid comparable cost of tix.

Sorry, not much help, indeed NO HELP at all!! Could you post here if you find it in a public enviornment? Good luck.

I think you are really going to struggle to find that information...

There are so many different markets and airlines sell tickets at different prices on different routes depending on the market.

There are numerous factors that could and will effect prices and airlines will react accordingly at the time necessary...

- Fuel Prices
- Economic Market (Recessions cold occur.)
- World Events (God forbid - but there could be another 9/11 and airlines need to react acordingly to get people flying.)
- LCC and how they impact the market.

I'd recommend Amadeus, Galileo, Worldspan and Sabre as possible contacts for you; you could also try getting some infos out of ATPCO and SITA (the companies through which airlines file their fares).

Good luck...
